On April 2, according to information from the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has decided to approve the enrollment plan for grade 10 high school for the 2025-2026 school year.
Recruiting 60 - 70% of students who have graduated from secondary school
Accordingly, all public high schools will organize entrance exams, taking 60 - 70% of junior high school graduates in the city within the prescribed age (in the 2024-2025 school year, this rate will be 65 - 70%).
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Can Tho will take place on June 5 and 6. For the entrance exam at Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted, students who have passed the preliminary round will take the school's specialized subjects on June 7.

The exam subjects include math, literature and foreign language (English or French). In terms of format, there are 2 subjects that are multiple choice and essay: math (120 minutes) and foreign language (60 minutes). The literature subject is in essay format (120 minutes). The exam content is in the general education program for secondary schools issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, mainly grade 9.
How to calculate admission score
This year's 10th grade entrance exam in Can Tho has a new point in calculating the admission score. Previously, the admission score was 2 x (math score + literature score) + foreign language score + priority score. However, this year, the admission score will be calculated as follows: Math score + literature score + foreign language score + priority score + incentive score.
The cases eligible for bonus points are secondary school students who win city-level competitions organized by the Department of Education and Training, or in coordination with relevant city departments and branches to organize national-level competitions.
The incentive points are calculated on a 10-point scale for each subject/exam added to the admission score. In which, the first prize is added 1.5 points, the second prize is added 1 point, the third prize is added 0.5 points. If a student is eligible for 2 or more incentive points, only the one with the highest score will be taken.
Principles of registration of wishes
Regarding the registration of wishes, this year's exam maintains the form of choosing wishes as in previous years. Candidates can register up to 5 wishes, in which wish 1 is Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted.
For choice 2 (main choice), students can only choose to register for one of two forms.
One is a public high school in the district (where the student graduated from junior high school) or the Pedagogical Practice High School of Can Tho University.
The second is to choose any public high school in the city. However, with this option, candidates must have an admission score that is 10% or higher than the admission standard score of the school they are applying to. High schools are only allowed to recruit no more than 5% of the approved enrollment quota.
For the third choice, candidates can choose a public high school in the district where they graduated from junior high school (not the same as the second choice) or the Pedagogical Practice High School of Can Tho University.
Meanwhile, choices 4 and 5 are any public high school in the city. Note, candidates choose each choice as a high school, not overlapping with other choices.
The admission process will prioritize choices from 1 to 5. Candidates who have been admitted to a public high school cannot change their choices, including transferring schools.
