In addition, Mr. Wang Yi also welcomed positive signs in the normalization of relations between Washington and Moscow, saying that major powers need to play a stabilizing role in the current global context.
He stressed that China is ready to play a "constructive" role in ending the conflict in Ukraine, while supporting Russia in protecting its "interests".
In a related development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and Iran's nuclear program.
The two sides agreed that nuclear talks with Tehran should resume based on the principle of "mutual respect" and demand the lifting of all sanctions.
The meeting came as China, Russia and Iran called for an end to US sanctions on Iran and a restart of nuclear talks, stressing that diplomatic dialogue was the only viable solution.
