On the afternoon of January 23, Seoul FC played a friendly match with The Cong Viettel at the Vietnam Youth Football Center. This was a closed practice match with 4 rounds (each round lasting 35 minutes), concluding the 2-week training trip of the Korean team in Vietnam.

"It's too hard," Seoul FC captain Jesse Lingard said in a post-match interview. The former Man Utd player and his Seoul FC teammates have just gone through days of heavy training to maintain their fitness during the break. The high volume and intensity of training is the reason why Lingard said it was difficult.

The Korean National Championship (K-League) has ended its 2024 season. However, Seoul FC will soon return to compete in the AFC Champions League. Therefore, Jesse Lingard's team decided to come to Vietnam for training.

During Seoul FC's last training session in Hanoi, coach Kim Sang-sik also came to the training ground. The Korean coach was arranged to stay at the villa for experts of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), near the place where his compatriot's team practiced.

Seoul FC is one of the top teams in the Korean national championship. Former head coach of the Vietnamese national team Park Hang Seo used to play for this club as a player. At that time, the team was still called Lucky Gold Star Hwangso.

In the 2024 K-League season, Seoul FC finished fourth overall and qualified for the Champions League Elite (Asian Cup C1). In the Seoul FC squad, the most notable name is Jesse Lingard. The former Man Utd player joined the Korean team from February 2024 on a 2-year contract.
