But the movie Sang Den and the Vien Phuong theater troupe always use the four words "benefactor audience" when talking about the people who watch the show and the movie.
On the fanpage of the movie Bright Lights , when reposting articles about the movie, the producer also wrote the four words "benefactor audience".
Artist Huu Chau played this role as a son, a descendant, paying tribute to his entire Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga cai luong family.
Funny and sad lights
The audience at the theater has thousands of faces, thousands of thoughts, not everyone sympathizes with the movie.
In the past, as the film depicts the Vien Phuong Cai Luong troupe traveling the West, not all the audiences who came to each performance were interested in Cai Luong art. But the artists in the troupe still wholeheartedly considered the "benefactor audience".

When only a few people came to see a quiet provincial performance in the middle of an empty lot, the artist still put on elaborate makeup, put on flashy costumes and never showed disrespect to the audience during the performance.
That scene in Bright Lights is both humorous and heartbreaking. If it weren't for the fact that he wholeheartedly considers the audience as his benefactor, no artist would be able to do that.
Bright Lights is an unlucky film, lacking many elements to attract a large audience to the theater (currently its revenue has only reached over 2.4 billion VND - according to Box Office Vietnam).
When the movie was released during Tet, there were already few screenings so there was no chance of it becoming popular.
Until now, when the film was postponed and released on March 22, it seemed to have avoided the big blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: New Empire (released in theaters on March 29), but it almost sank before the fever of Tomb Raider - a Korean horror film that unexpectedly took Vietnamese theaters by storm, about to become the highest-grossing Korean film of all time in Vietnam.
And the fate of the movie " Shine the Light" at the box office reminds us of the Vien Phuong theater troupe in the movie: there were nights when the show was very empty, but the producer (played by Meritorious Artist Huu Chau) and the artists still "turned on the lights", even though it was difficult to be as successful as the nights when the audience was packed.

Regret the song "Ho xu xang xe cong lie ho"
The Vien Phuong theater troupe once broke up and then reunited (thanks to a wealthy female audience member who loved reformed opera), but just like in real life, whether the troupe can survive or not depends on the generosity of its many benefactors.
This is not something that can be decided just by wanting it or having money, so the artists of Sang Den are so grateful.
It's a pity for Bright Lights, it's a pity that the emotional lyrics "Ho xu xang xe cong lie ho" in the soundtrack of the movie Bright Lights didn't reach more audiences.
The soundtrack of the movie Bright Lights sung by the main actor Bach Cong Khanh
"Out there I am an ordinary person, but here I am a king, I am a lord, I sing and dance/ Silk and clothes, powder and rouge/ The light shines on me to help me play my role".
This is the concern not only of artists in the past but also today, although today there are almost no more sad traveling theater troupes who stick to their profession because of a love without calculation.
"I'm also young, and I used to not be interested in cải lương. But after watching it, I felt so much pain and love!" - a viewer named Thuy Tien wrote about the film.
The group of people who came to see Bright Lights , although very small, also gave the artists more motivation to live fully with their "benefactor audience".
