On the morning of January 16, the price of SJC gold bars and gold rings jumped, exceeding 87 million VND/tael.

(NLDO) – Domestic gold prices suddenly increased sharply, exceeding 87 million VND/tael, while world prices approached the 2,700 USD/ounce mark.

On the morning of January 16, SJC Company listed the buying price of SJC gold bars at 85 million VND/tael and the selling price at 87 million VND/tael, a sharp increase of 600,000 VND per tael compared to yesterday.

PNJ sells at the same price as SJC, while DOJI sells at a lower price, around 86.8 million VND/tael. If customers buy SJC gold bars of 1, 2 and 5 chi, the selling price is up to 87.3 million VND/tael.

Gold prices have a gap between businesses in the context of a sudden sharp increase this morning.

Mi Hong Company sells SJC gold bars for 86.7 million VND/tael, an increase of 900,000 VND compared to yesterday. Sacombank, ACB, and Eximbank also have differences, with SJC gold bars sold for 86.6 million VND to 87 million VND/tael.

Gold prices today skyrocketed for both SJC gold bars and gold rings.

On the buying side, each business also listed a different price, from about 84.8 - 85.7 million VND/tael - lower than the selling side by up to 2.3 million VND/tael. The difference in buying and selling prices was pushed to the highest level of over 2 million VND/tael.

Similarly, the price of gold rings and jewelry of all kinds also increased sharply. SJC Company bought plain gold rings at VND84.8 million/tael and sold at VND86.5 million/tael, an increase of VND400,000/tael compared to the end of yesterday. The price of 99.99 gold rings increased more slowly than the increase of gold bars.

PNJ Company sells 99.99 plain gold rings at the same price as SJC gold bars. Thus, the price of gold rings has come close to the price of gold bars.

Domestic gold prices suddenly increased sharply when the world price approached the 2,700 USD/ounce mark. As of this morning, Vietnam time, the world gold price was traded at 2,696 USD/ounce, up about 15 USD/ounce compared to the previous session. During the session, there was a time when the precious metal surpassed the 2,700 USD/ounce mark, the highest level in more than a month.

Precious metals on the international market unexpectedly increased sharply when the USD index fell below the 109 point mark and US inflation data showed positive information. Investors expected the US to continue its cycle of interest rate cuts, thereby benefiting gold prices.

Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 83 million VND/tael.
