On July 12, the Ministry of Health sent an official dispatch to the directors of the Department of Health of provinces, cities and hospitals regarding strengthening the prevention and control of measles and whooping cough infections in medical examination and treatment facilities.
The Ministry of Health pointed out that the situation of measles and whooping cough in some provinces and cities is complicated, so it requires hospitals to do a good job of admitting measles and whooping cough patients; provide timely treatment, minimize the number of severe cases and deaths; strictly implement regulations on infection control, prevent cross-infection and outbreaks of measles and whooping cough at medical examination and treatment facilities.
The Ministry of Health also requested the directors of the Department of Health of provinces and cities to direct the effective implementation of the measles and whooping cough vaccination plan in 2024 and the expanded immunization program. At the same time, review and ensure logistics, funding, drugs, biological products, supplies, chemicals, vaccines, equipment, human resources, etc. to serve regular vaccination and epidemic prevention activities.
Medical facilities under the Ministry of Health are prepared to respond to epidemics, strengthen the Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control and the prevention and response plan according to the level and scale of the epidemic. Hospitals are ready with isolation and treatment areas, temporary isolation for infected and suspected patients; and conduct epidemic investigations as soon as the first measles and whooping cough cases are detected.
