Up to this point, all preparations have been basically completed, ready to organize the exam as planned and have a backup plan for unusual situations.
According to our records, testing sites across the country have fully prepared the conditions for organization as well as have plans to support candidates to take the exam smoothly.
Basic preparation work completed
In 2024, Vi Thanh High School (Vi Thanh City) is one of the testing sites with the largest number of candidates in Hau Giang province with 635 candidates and 27 testing rooms. Teacher Le Duy Ngoc, Principal of the school, said that up to this point, the preparation of the testing site's facilities has been basically completed. In addition to the official testing rooms, the testing site also has two backup testing rooms and two waiting rooms.
In addition to organizing review sessions for students, which are expected to end on June 20, the school regularly disseminates exam regulations to all teachers and students in the spirit of understanding and implementing them correctly.
At the exam site of Tam Vu High School (Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang), Principal Nguyen Hoang Trung said that the preparation conditions for organizing the exam have been basically completed. The task from now until the exam day is to continue reviewing for students, especially students with average and weak academic performance.
Da Nang High School Graduation Exam 2024 has 13,561 candidates registered to take the exam at 28 official exam sites and one backup exam site.
Speaking to us, Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Thi Bich Thuan said that 2,265 officers and teachers were mobilized to work on the exam. The police also mobilized a large number of officers and soldiers to ensure security, order and traffic safety.
The education sector has organized training courses on professional skills and techniques for invigilation and supervision for officials and teachers expected to participate in invigilation; coordinated with Da Nang City Police to inspect data storage devices and cameras for invigilation and grading; coordinated with departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts to make careful preparations and ensure readiness for the exam.
Currently, the examination sites in Da Nang basically ensure the following requirements: Sufficient examination rooms (including spare examination rooms); rooms for storing exam papers and test papers; meeting rooms of the examination sites; rooms for storing candidates' bags and belongings; medical rooms.
Examination rooms ensure the required number of tables and chairs; unused rooms at examination sites have been sealed. At examination sites, locker rooms for candidates are arranged in classrooms or auditoriums so that candidates can feel secure about their belongings.
As for the exam site of Tran Phu High School (Hai Chau District), it had to borrow a room from the 19/5 Kindergarten opposite to use as a storage room because the security room was too small and the distance between the security room and the exam rooms did not meet regulations.
Teacher Le Manh Tan, a teacher at Hoang Hoa Tham High School (Son Tra District) shared that he had been trained in exam organization techniques as well as exam regulations, including hypothetical situations to handle.
According to Mr. Tan, in the case of candidates forgetting their exam cards during the exam regulations announcement, the invigilators remind the candidates to still go to the exam site as usual; they should not go back to get their documents. If they forget their exam cards, they can use other identification documents such as citizen identification cards.
Even if a candidate does not bring his/her exam card and related documents, he/she can still take the exam, but must write a commitment letter, and include a photo of the candidate in the exam application so that the invigilator can compare the face.
As a mountainous province with difficult transportation and erratic rain and floods, Lao Cai province has a plan to support exam candidates.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Do Minh Tam said that the locality has directed educational institutions to set up examination sites to report to the examination steering committees at district, town and city levels to contact ethnic boarding schools, vocational education and continuing education centers, and high schools with boarding areas to arrange accommodation for students taking the exam; coordinate with parents to cook for candidates to ensure hygiene and food safety.
There is a plan to bring students who live far from the exam site to a place near the exam site, and arrange accommodation for students in case of unusual weather conditions such as storms or landslides that prevent them from returning home at least three days before the exam date.
At the same time, coordinate with the youth union to effectively implement the programs "Youth Volunteers", "Supporting Exam Season"...; actively mobilize funds from organizations, individuals, and parents to organize free or low-cost lunches for disadvantaged students.
The Steering Committee for the High School Graduation Exam in Yen Bai Province has also developed plans to support candidates in difficult circumstances and candidates living far away. Up to now, about 2,000 candidates taking the exam have been supported with review, consultation, funding, rice, accommodation, transportation, etc.
Focus on preventing high-tech equipment fraud
Ho Chi Minh City is one of the localities with the largest number of candidates taking the exam in the country. Among the many tasks that need to be prepared and resolved, the issue of ensuring the safety of important areas of the exam site such as: the exam printing area, the exam management room, the exam papers as well as preventing exam cheating with high-tech equipment is always put on top.
This work has been thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Public Security as well as localities in recent years, but with large-scale and important exams, careful review of risks and preventive measures need special attention.
During a field inspection at some testing sites in Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Director of the Technical Department (Ministry of Public Security) Hoang Van Khoa said that during the inspection of testing sites and the test printing area, some risks were discovered that needed to be immediately addressed, such as there were many network cables and telephone cables in the test printing area.
Therefore, we request that the Ho Chi Minh City Examination Steering Committee soon have a plan to remove network cables from the exam printing and storage areas. If they cannot be removed, there must be a plan to seal all network cables.
At some testing locations, the area adjacent to residential areas does not have curtains, so additional curtains should be installed immediately or there should be a plan to prevent outsiders from seeing in...
After inspecting a number of localities, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that preparations have been basically completed. Many localities have organized effective review sessions for students, paying attention to each group of students and mobilizing forces to provide thoughtful support for candidates.
There are 10 days left until the important exam, so the head of the education sector recommends that localities and each testing site need to be extremely careful, because mistakes from one locality will affect the whole country.
The printing, copying and transportation of exam papers and test papers must comply with the highest security regulations with the highest coordination of the police sector to ensure absolute safety in all stages of the exam.
The reality of organizing the high school graduation exam in recent years shows that all stages and contents must have backup plans. Localities as well as each testing site must not only come up with backup plans but also carefully prepare for those backup plans. It is necessary to fully train the backup staff and teachers, in case the main staff is sick or has unexpected work.
Notably, in recent years, cases of high-tech fraud have been discovered, so the Ministry of Education and Training has warned localities to be especially vigilant against this issue.
Not only reminding, propagating, thoroughly informing students but also promoting the responsibility of exam invigilators, taking the human spirit to respond to high technology is the solution for this year's exam.
In 2024, the whole country will have more than 1 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam at nearly 2,300 exam locations with 45,000 exam rooms.
This is the last exam to be conducted according to the 2006 general education program with the organization and exam plan basically remaining stable as in recent years.
From 2025, the exam will have innovations suitable for the 2018 general education program.
