At around 7:30 a.m., a fire broke out with many loud explosions at a restaurant of more than 40 square meters on Le Loi Street, Hiep Phu Ward. Some diners who were having breakfast quickly ran away. The fire caught on many objects and flared up fiercely. Many people nearby brought nearly ten mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire in about 10 minutes.
The fire was later determined to be a gas leak. According to witnesses, before the fire, the restaurant staff replaced the 9 kg gas tank. About 5 minutes later, the gas leaked out and caught fire, causing severe burns to two male and female employees (18-20 years old) who were grilling meat nearby. Many of the restaurant's belongings were burned, and the walls were covered in black smoke. The victims were taken to Cho Ray Hospital.
