On June 8, at Con Noi sea area, Kim Son District People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and a number of related units to launch a campaign to clean up the sea in response to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week - World Oceans Day 2023.
Kim Son is the only coastal district of Ninh Binh province. With 18 km of coastline, this area has many advantages in exploitation, aquaculture; marine tourism and maritime transport.
However, recently, along with the rapid socio-economic development, Kim Son district has also faced many challenges due to climate change, rising sea levels, and unsustainable resource exploitation that has degraded the marine ecosystem. In particular, the problem of environmental pollution caused by waste, of which a large amount is plastic bags, is increasing.
In response to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week - World Oceans Day 2023, at the launching ceremony, the leader of Kim Son District People's Committee called on agencies, units, levels, sectors of the district and all people to focus on propagating and implementing well the Strategy for sustainable exploitation and use of resources, protection of marine and island environment by 2030, with a vision to 2050 of the Government; Law on Environmental Protection 2020 and legal documents on environmental protection.
Prioritize the use of environmentally friendly technology and products that consume little energy, limit the use of raw materials that generate waste and pollute the environment, especially disposable plastic products.
Collect, classify, and treat household waste and plastic waste at source, especially in coastal areas of the district. In addition, strengthen the management and control of marine environmental pollution; exploit and catch aquatic products safely and sustainably.
Promote the responsibility of leaders in performing the tasks of managing, exploiting and rationally using marine resources, at the same time, further promote the role and responsibility of the community to protect and preserve marine and island resources and environment for the goal of sustainable development...
Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates along with hundreds of cadres, soldiers, and youth union members from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Hoa Lu University, Kim Son Border Guard Station, Kim Son District Police, high schools, communes, and towns in the district collected garbage and cleaned the coast of Con Noi area. The environment was cleaned, and garbage was collected from rivers and estuaries in the communes of Kim Dong, Kim Trung, and Kim Hai.
