Thai Nguyen Women's Club raises its strength

On November 20, at the headquarters of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, the signing ceremony of the sponsorship contract between T&T Group and Thai Nguyen Women's Club took place. This is the second time T&T Group has signed a sponsorship contract for the tea land women's football team after the first time in 2019.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province; Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group; Mr. Mai Xuan Son, General Director of T&T Group.

In 2019, following the news that Thai Nguyen women's football was facing many difficulties and was at risk of disbanding, the leaders of T&T Group were interested in learning more to support the team. At that time, the initial income of a Thai Nguyen female player was from 1.5 million to 2 million per month, while the regional minimum wage in Thai Nguyen was 3.25 million VND/month. Many female players had to temporarily put aside their passion for playing football to work as workers in local factories.

Faced with that situation, T&T Group decided to fully sponsor Thai Nguyen Women's Club for 5 years. The team raised the salary for players to a minimum of 6 million VND/month, and the salary of key players from 10 million VND/month or more.

After stabilizing the team, in 2022, Thai Nguyen T&T Club also caused a shock when it created an unprecedented thing by paying transfer fees for female players. The team decided to sign defender Nguyen Thi My Anh and striker Le Hoai Luong in 2022, after their contracts with Ho Chi Minh City Club expired. Recently, Thai Nguyen T&T continued to sign three players from Ho Chi Minh City Club, including 2023 Golden Ball winner Tran Thi Kim Thanh, 2023 Bronze Ball winner Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy and defender Tran Thi Thu.

In addition, youth training has also received more attention when the enrollment quota each year increased from 7 to 20 players. Thanks to that, the Thai Nguyen U.19 women's football team won the bronze medal at the national tournament in 2022 and 2024. The team also owns Ngoc Minh Chuyen, the best young female player in 2023. In the composition of the Vietnam U.20 women's team, Thai Nguyen also contributed 3 players.

Recently, the Thai Nguyen women's team signed a contract with head coach Van Thi Thanh and goalkeeper coach Dang Thi Kieu Trinh. Both are faces who have contributed a lot to Vietnamese women's football and have won the prestigious Golden Ball. Coach Van Thi Thanh is currently the only female coach in Vietnam with an AFC Pro certificate (the highest degree of the Asian Football Confederation), has worked as an assistant in the Vietnamese women's team as well as coached youth teams.

In 2024, for the first time in history, Thai Nguyen women's football won the bronze medal of the national championship. In the international women's football tournament with the participation of Hanoi and 2 international guest teams, Beijing FC and Manila Digger, Coach Van Thi Thanh helped Thai Nguyen T&T win the championship. That was a huge boost in spirit for Coach Van Thi Thanh as well as Thai Nguyen T&T players.

At the second sponsorship contract signing ceremony, T&T Group awarded 500 million VND to Thai Nguyen Women's Football Club for winning the bronze medal in the 2024 National Women's Championship.

After 5 years of cooperation with many positive results and being one of the typical examples of socialized sports, the two sides agreed to extend the contract to move towards a new cycle with stronger progress. The new contract has a term of 5 years with a significantly increased sponsorship level compared to before.

T&T Group will support Thai Nguyen women's football team in building a development strategy, aiming for higher goals. With successful experience in managing, training, and developing men's football, T&T Group will also devote resources to support the selection, screening, training, and education of athletes; provide and guide the implementation of training programs to improve the effectiveness of training and competition. At the same time, Thai Nguyen women's football team will also be supported by experienced, professional, and skilled coaches.

In the history of 27 times of organizing the national women's football championship, Ho Chi Minh City I and Hanoi I clubs have taken turns winning the championship 23 times, in which Ho Chi Minh City I club currently owns an extremely strong squad with 6 consecutive championships recently. In that context, Thai Nguyen women's club still sets a very high goal of competing for the top spot with traditional teams to break the two-horse race and create attractiveness for the national women's football playground in the coming years.
