Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son welcomed Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi.
On the morning of November 28, Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni arrived in Hanoi, beginning a State visit to Vietnam from November 28 to 29, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.
Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang; and a number of officials from the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Accompanying King Norodom Sihamoni to visit Vietnam were: Samdech Mahamontrei Kuy Sophal, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Royal Palace, Supreme Advisor to the King; Mr. Neth Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister; Ms. Chan Samdarind, Supreme Advisor to the King, Deputy Chief of the King's Office; Ms. Mean Som An, Senator, Chairwoman of Committee 8 of the Senate; Mr. Sous Yara, Member of the National Assembly, Chairwoman of Committee 5 of the National Assembly; Mr. Vann Van, Supreme Advisor to the King; Mr. Kol Bunly, Supreme Advisor to the King, Secretary of State of the Royal Palace; Ms. Chea Kimtha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Vietnam; Mr. Kan Sovanna, Secretary of State of the Royal Palace; Mr. Nov Sorpiseth, Secretary of State of the Royal Palace; Mr. Chiep Chanyoutha, Secretary of State of the Royal Palace.

King Norodom Sihamoni was born on May 14, 1953, in Phnom Penh, the son of the late King Norodom Sihanouk and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. From 1959 to 1962, he studied at Norodom Primary School and Descartes Secondary School in Phnom Penh.
From 1962 to 1967, he attended primary and secondary school in Prague (former Czechoslovak Republic).
From 1967 to 1971, he studied music and dance at the National Conservatory of Music in Prague (former Czechoslovakia). In 1970, he graduated from Prague High School (with honors).
In 1971, he won first prize in the classical dance course at the Prague National Conservatory.
From 1971 to 1975, he studied advanced studies in ballet at the Prague Academy of Musical Arts.
In 1975, he graduated from the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague; his thesis was “Concept and management of art schools in Cambodia.”
From 1975 to 1976, he studied for a master's degree in cinematography in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
From 1979 to 1980, he was Private Secretary to King Norodom Sihanouk. From 1981 to 1990, he was Professor of Classical Dance and Art Education at the Marius Petipa Conservatory, the Gabriel Faure Conservatory and the W.A. Mozart Conservatory in Paris; during the period 1984-1988, he was President of the Khmer Dance Association in France; General Director and Artistic Director of the Ballet Group “DEVA.”
During the period 1988-1993, he was the general director and art director of the Royal Khmer Cinema Association “Khemara Pictures”; he composed two ballet films, “The Dream” and “The Four Elements”.
From 1992 to 1993, he was unanimously elected by the members of the Supreme National Council of Cambodia as the Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations. From 1993 to 2004, he was the Ambassador of Cambodia to UNESCO.

On February 1, 1994, he was given the title Samdech Krom Khun. From October 17, 2003, he was appointed Supreme Advisor to the King. In 2004, he was a member of the High Council of the Francophonie.
On August 31, 2004, he was given the title Samdech Preah Boromneath by King Norodom Sihanouk.
On October 14, 2004, he was unanimously elected King of Cambodia by the members of the Royal Council to succeed his father, King Norodom Sihanouk, who had decided to abdicate.
On October 29, 2004, he was officially crowned King of Cambodia.
This State visit to Vietnam is the fourth visit to Vietnam by Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni.
During the visit, King Norodom Sihamoni is expected to hold talks and meetings with all top leaders of Vietnam, thereby contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship under the motto "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability"./.
