Cambodian King successfully concludes visit to Vietnam

(NLDO)- On the afternoon of November 29, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni left Hanoi, successfully concluding his State visit to Vietnam.


Seeing off the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; representatives of Hanoi leaders; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang; and a number of officials from the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit to Vietnam, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni laid flowers and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; and laid flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.

King Norodom Sihamoni had meetings with General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received him, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with the King.

At the meetings and receptions, Vietnamese leaders warmly welcomed King Norodom Sihamoni to Vietnam, bringing warm feelings to the Vietnamese people and sending best wishes for the health of the Queen Mother, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Hun Mannet and Cambodian leaders.

The Vietnamese leaders congratulated the great and important achievements in all fields that the Cambodian people have attained in the cause of national construction and development; believed that under the reign of the King, the leadership of the Senate, the National Assembly, and the Government, the Cambodian people would continue to achieve many new and greater achievements in the cause of building a peaceful, independent, democratic and socially progressive Cambodia; affirmed that Vietnam supports Cambodia's vision and development orientation in the new period.

The Cambodian King expressed his deep gratitude for the great, valuable, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia in the struggle to gain and protect independence and escape from the genocidal regime in the past, as well as in the current national construction; affirmed the desire and high determination of the Cambodian leaders and people to continue to foster and preserve the relationship between the two countries.

During the visit, President Luong Cuong hosted the official welcoming ceremony, an official reception, and visited and enjoyed tea with the King at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni visited Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) and met with Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Sangha Council and President of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Also attending the event was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

This visit to Vietnam by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni is an important event, a milestone contributing to further strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
