The inauguration ceremony of the Sea Square and the Sam Son City Festival Landscape Axis took place on the evening of April 27, within the framework of the opening night of the Sam Son Sea Tourism Festival 2024. More than 300,000 people and tourists participated in the event, enjoyed vibrant art performances and admired the jubilant fireworks display at the most modern and largest sea square in Vietnam.
Launched from the summer tourist season of 2023, Sam Son Sea Square has quickly become a familiar meeting place for locals and tourists, a place to organize major local cultural and artistic programs, and the most attractive public living space every time tourists come to Sam Son.
“The new symbol of Sam Son” is invested by Sun Group Corporation, architectural design consultancy by ASPECT Studios (Australia) - a leading international unit in the field of landscape architecture design. The square has a capacity of more than 10,000 people, 2.6km long, 120m wide, connecting directly to Nam Song Ma Avenue, leading to the large-scale Sun World Sam Son entertainment complex.
The square space is well-groomed with a system of trees planted along the avenue, and the lawns are trimmed daily. In particular, the indigenous cultural imprint is imbued in every corner of the architecture and landscape: the symbol of Hon Trong Mai or the Dong Son bronze drum motif is interwoven in the overall architecture. The road surface on the square is paved with natural cubic stones in 3 colors inspired by the world-famous avenues of Champs-Élysées.
Many tourists also choose to come here early to fully experience and check-in at the Sea Square, which is likened to "the Singapore corner in Sam Son".
Ms. Pham Thu Hang (Ninh Binh City) said: “As scheduled, every time this happens, our family returns to Sam Son to have fun. Coming to the sea square, we can watch the water music, check-in at Hon Trong Mai, watch fireworks and this year there are many shops and restaurants operating. Next year, we will rent a mini hotel right in the square for convenient travel.”
20 Dong Son Drum-shaped decorative trees on Sam Son Beach Square, 4.8m - 11.5m high, inspired by the images and patterns on Dong Son bronze drums, are a special highlight that attracts tourists. Each tree trunk is made of hot-dip galvanized steel, meticulously shaped, painted in the same color as the landscape architecture, along with a pre-programmed, multi-colored themed lighting system, making visitors feel the excitement, uniqueness and beauty whether they come here during the day or night.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung's family (Hanoi) enjoyed taking photos next to the model of Hon Trong Mai with a ratio of 1:1 compared to Hon Trong Mai on Truong Le mountain. He shared: "It's been many years since I returned to Sam Son for tourism, I really felt the "transformation" in the landscape and environment. I was very surprised by the large, civilized space of the Sea Square here. The atmosphere is airy and vibrant, you can check-in at home, drink coffee, watch water music, and watch fireworks."
The commercial shophouse system along the boulevard has begun to serve summer tourists, with restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, mini hotels, indoor playgrounds... In the near future, high-rise towers with sea views will appear, helping to complete the infrastructure of the central area of Sam Son.
As the sun sets, the square begins to light up, waiting for the biggest festival event of the year in Thanh Hoa. The appearance of famous young artists such as Duc Phuc, Min, Duong Hoang Yen, Oplus group,... and vibrant dance performances have created heat for the program amidst the applause and cheers of thousands of spectators.
After a spectacular 15-minute fireworks display, the vibrant sea festival season in Sam Son with many cultural - artistic - sports activities has officially opened, lasting throughout the summer, especially events at the sea square.
In addition to the ideal space for events and festivals, Sam Son Sea Square has also become a favorite cultural destination for locals and tourists, especially the free water music shows that take place every night throughout the summer. 2 fountains use German technology with 300 nozzles and a lighting system combined with full-range speakers, synchronized ultrasonic speakers, controlled by a modern software system.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Tu, Chairman of Sam Son City People's Committee affirmed that the completion and putting into use of the Sea Square - Sam Son festival landscape axis is a major turning point for Sam Son tourism industry.
After the inauguration of the sea square, on May 18, Sun World Sam Son Park will officially operate. In the future, when high-rise apartment towers with open views of the sea... are put into operation, Sun Group's ecosystem in Sam Son will gradually begin to be completed. The expectation of welcoming 8.5 million visitors to Sam Son this year will come true and the coastal city will soon become a four-season tourist destination.
