With the orientation of exploiting agricultural potential, Dong Thap is at the forefront of implementing the Project of restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development.

Over the implementation period, the province's agriculture and rural areas have had positive changes. Accordingly, the growth of the agricultural sector continues to be maintained; the structure of agricultural production has shifted towards linking with the consumer market through the development of collective economic models, cooperation and association associated with the construction of production models according to GAP standards; promoting the application of scientific and technological advances in production, improving the competitiveness of the province's agricultural products. Building and implementing well pilot policies to encourage agricultural and rural development, encouraging the shift of agricultural labor to other fields, contributing to improving the quality of life of people in rural areas...

Up to now, the whole province has formed and completed raw material areas for key industries in a modern direction, applying advanced technology, creating cooperative links between cooperatives and enterprises and between enterprises and enterprises in the production, processing and consumption of sustainable agricultural products. Districts and cities have proactively implemented the construction of at least 1 smart and modern agricultural production area associated with the processing and consumption industry to serve as a focal point in directing and operating the Project on restructuring the agricultural sector.

In addition, the province is implementing digital transformation in the agricultural sector, contributing to strong changes in administrative procedures under the management of the agricultural sector that are eligible to be provided as level 4 online public services, reaching 100% by the end of 2024. At the same time, improving the efficiency of digitalizing management data, automating the process of collecting - processing - reporting - storing statistical data systems in the fields of cultivation, plant protection, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, aquaculture; rural development; irrigation; forestry; new rural areas; OCOP Program; traceability...

In recent times, sectors and levels in the province have also built and applied "OCOP digital software" to the task of evaluating and classifying OCOP products, including receiving registration dossiers and evaluating OCOP products. Up to now, the database on agricultural production and rural development at all management levels (province, district, commune) has been digitized, 100%; farmers know how to apply Internet of Things (IoT) technology to the production process, exploit supply - demand information via the Internet, online trading reaches 62.56%. At the same time, investing in infrastructure, gradually upgrading technological equipment to monitor, analyze, forecast, and warn of resilience to natural disasters; combining with the application of information technology in managing and responding to natural disasters; forecasting and improving the effectiveness of prevention, control, and timely response to plant and animal diseases, especially cross-border diseases.

Entering the second year of implementation, members of the Thang Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thap Muoi district) have actively and effectively implemented the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030". In which, strictly ensuring the standards and criteria of the Project on infrastructure, cultivation processes, production and consumption linkage, and emission reduction. The area participating in the pilot model of the Project at Thang Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative in the first crop is 50 hectares of adjacent rice of 24 households, starting from the autumn-winter crop of 2024 and lasting for 3 consecutive crops. When participating, farmers record production diaries, fully participate in training sessions, comply with the guidance process and especially are not allowed to burn straw in the fields...

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Director of Thang Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: "Implementing the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030", the cooperative produces in the direction of applying mechanization to all stages in the fields, reducing labor; farmers cultivate in the direction of reducing fertilizers and pesticides of chemical origin. In the coming time, after completing the pilot, the cooperative will continue to mobilize members to produce rice according to the process and standards of the Project for all areas in the cooperative (with more than 440 hectares)...".

Accompanying the provincial and local departments, branches, and sectors, recently, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Dong Thap province successfully organized the Conference to disseminate knowledge "Effectiveness of circular economic models in agriculture". Thereby, contributing to raising awareness among the people about the role and importance of developing circular economic models in agriculture. At the same time, realizing the Action Plan on green growth in Dong Thap province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050"...

According to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, in the coming time, the locality will focus on directing the organization, implementation and completion of the objectives of the Agricultural Restructuring Project set out by 2025, to move to a new roadmap with the goal of developing Dong Thap agriculture into the leading group in the Mekong Delta region in terms of "Ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers".

At the same time, strive to become a province with modern agriculture by 2045, with a reasonable economic structure and strong economic sectors associated with agriculture. Complete the Project to build Dong Thap into a pioneering and model province in ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and civilized farmers. This is the Project for the province to focus on developing Dong Thap agriculture for the next phase, ending the phase to 2030 of the Project " Restructuring the agricultural sector of Dong Thap province to 2025, with a vision to 2030".

In addition, focus on studying the conditions to promote the development of the processing industry, linked to raw material areas, convenient infrastructure connections; quickly access opportunities for economic development at international border gates, logistics associated with agricultural products to go faster and wider in the markets of countries bordering Dong Thap province. In addition, implement policies to promote enterprises to invest in agricultural production and agricultural processing; continue to research and ensure that policies must have open mechanisms for administrative procedures in agriculture...
