Quang Tri promotes 2 projects funded by Italy

These are the Project to Improve the Capacity for Solid Waste Collection and Treatment to Protect the Environment and Adapt to Climate Change in the Northern Region of Quang Tri Province with a total investment of 45 billion VND and the Project to Supply Clean Water and Manage Water Resources in 3 Communes in Cam Lo District with a total investment of more than 37.2 billion VND.

On September 10, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong chaired a meeting with departments, branches and localities to discuss and give opinions on two clean water and environmental protection and climate change adaptation projects to submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval of the policy for these two projects.

Specifically, the Project to Improve the Capacity for Solid Waste Collection and Treatment to Protect the Environment and Adapt to Climate Change in the Northern Region of Quang Tri Province will be implemented from 2024-2026, funded by the Italian Government. The project scale includes 5 main and auxiliary items with a total investment of 45 billion VND. Of which, the ODA non-refundable aid is more than 36.5 billion VND, the rest is counterpart capital.

The project aims to contribute to the construction of a complete system for collecting, classifying and treating solid waste in the northern region of Quang Tri province, ensuring that the reuse and recycling rate of domestic solid waste reaches over 65%; the rate of solid waste reused and recycled for energy recovery or fertilizer production reaches over 85%...

The Clean Water Supply and Water Resources Management Project in the three communes of Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, and Cam Tuyen (Cam Lo District) with an implementation period of 2024-2026 is also funded by the Italian Government. The project scale includes three main items with a total investment of more than VND 37.2 billion, of which nearly VND 30 billion is non-refundable ODA capital, the rest is counterpart capital.

The project's goal is to ensure domestic water supply for 100% of rural households, completing the clean water criteria in the construction of advanced new rural areas, with a water supply standard of 80÷100 liters/person/day and night with quality meeting standards for the area in 3 communes: Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, Cam Tuyen with 4,480 households and 17,131 people.

This project aims to change the habit of using wells of local people, reduce and limit the spontaneous exploitation of groundwater by local people, move towards controlling and strictly managing the exploitation of groundwater in the project area and using concentrated water through treatment to ensure safety and protect the health of local people.

Concluding the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized the rationality and necessity of the above projects in protecting the environment, adapting to climate change, and ensuring clean water sources for people.
