Good news from import and export through border gates

According to information from Mong Cai Customs Branch (Quang Ninh), in the first 9 months of 2023, the total import and export turnover through Mong Cai border gate reached more than 2.8 billion USD, of which export turnover reached nearly 1.72 billion USD, import turnover reached nearly 1.1 billion USD (up 6.5% in turnover compared to the same period in 2022). State budget revenue reached more than 1,176 billion VND (up 7% compared to the same period in 2022).

In the first 9 months of 2023, 907 enterprises registered to carry out procedures at the Department, of which 467 new enterprises carried out procedures through the area (an increase of 224 enterprises compared to the same period in 2022) with a turnover of more than 375 million USD, the budget revenue from newly registered enterprises reached nearly 125 billion VND.

In recent years, Quang Ninh province has promoted investment in economic infrastructure in the area. In particular, it has focused on investing in and developing infrastructure, improving the efficiency of public investment in many projects and works in border economic zones, thereby contributing to creating a great "push" for economic development in this area.

Currently, the province has 3 border gate economic zones in the Development Plan approved by the Prime Minister with a decision to establish with a total area of ​​over 144.75 hectares, including: Mong Cai border gate economic zone associated with Mong Cai border gate with an area of ​​121,197 hectares; Hoanh Mo - Dong Van border gate economic zone with a total area of ​​14,236 hectares; Bac Phong Sinh border gate economic zone with a total area of ​​9,302 hectares.

According to data from the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh, in the first 8 months of 2023, the export turnover of enterprises in the province is estimated at 1.993 billion USD, up 13.8% over the same period; the import turnover of enterprises in the province in the first 8 months is estimated at 2.068 billion USD, up 4.7% over the same period.

Currently, Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch is making efforts to implement digital transformation, apply information technology to facilitate import and export activities and promote support and companionship with businesses.

Continue to advise the Provincial Customs Department to accelerate the implementation of the construction of "Digital Border Gate", research and advise on the implementation of the construction of "Digital Customs" with a digital customs management model associated with digital border gates to support and share information with ministries and branches at the local and central levels.

At the same time, continue to operate container scanners for import and export goods through Bac Luan II Bridge, Km3+4 Floating Bridge Opening and continue to effectively deploy the VNACCS/VCISS Automatic Customs Clearance System, Online Public Service System and National Single Window System; improve the operational efficiency of support teams, handle difficulties in customs procedures, proactively, promptly and actively advise and propose mechanisms and policies in supporting and accompanying businesses... Thereby, continue to maintain and promote the position of a typical unit in accompanying businesses.

To promote the efficiency of customs clearance through Mong Cai Border Gate, Quang Ninh province recently held the inauguration ceremony of the Project to Upgrade Provincial Road 341 (National Highway 18C) Phase 2, connecting Mong Cai Border Gate Economic Zone (Mong Cai city) to Bac Phong Sinh Border Gate Economic Zone (Hai Ha district).

The Project to Improve and Upgrade Provincial Road 341 (National Highway 18C) Phase 2 from Mong Cai Border Gate Economic Zone to Bac Phong Sinh Border Gate Economic Zone is invested by the Quang Ninh Economic Zone Management Board. After the road is put into use, the travel time between the two border gates will be shortened from nearly 1.5 hours to more than 25 minutes.

With nearly 119 km of land border and 191 km of sea border with China, Quang Ninh is a province with good trade conditions with China through a system of land and sea border gates. Promoting the advantage of making Quang Ninh soon become an international integration gateway of the Northern Key Economic Zone, a "bridge" of cooperation between Vietnam and ASEAN countries and the Northeast Asia region, the province has strengthened leadership and direction of functional sectors and localities to maintain, expand and improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs and economic cooperation diplomacy with China. Along with that, the province has promoted investment and construction of supporting infrastructure at border gates, put into use expressways... creating favorable conditions for exchange activities and economic development through border gate economic zones.

Speaking with reporters from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh said that in order for the province's export activities to continue to be stable and develop in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh will continue to support businesses in the import and export sector.

In addition, continue to inform and grasp the situation at border gates to promptly inform businesses and the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces/cities nationwide about information related to import and export activities such as: regulations related to import and export activities; the situation of activities at border gates and border openings in Quang Ninh province.

At the same time, closely monitor developments and the situation of China's border trade and monetary policies, promptly forecast, assess and deploy timely solutions to support, accompany and guide businesses to flexibly adapt and stabilize customs clearance activities in the area.

In addition, the Quang Ninh Industry and Trade sector will promote activities to orient import and export activities according to international practices to be proactive and not dependent on the policies of other countries; at the same time, take advantage of incentives from FTAs ​​that Vietnam has signed through propaganda activities, guiding businesses to have correct and sufficient awareness of current import and export forms.

In particular, the Department will promote import and export activities through Quang Ninh province's border gates to effectively promote the Ha Long - Van Don - Mong Cai expressway; Organize work with a number of provinces/cities nationwide to export fruits and seafood products through Quang Ninh province's border gates, with attention paid to the southern provinces; Propose to the Provincial People's Committee to develop a project "Developing logistics services in Quang Ninh province to 2035, with a vision to 2045"; Advise on the implementation of the Plan "implementing tasks and solutions to improve competitiveness and develop logistics services in Quang Ninh province to 2025. Advise on the development of a pilot project for the Vietnam - China cross-border cooperation zone (Quang Ninh)...
