Implementing gender mainstreaming in poverty reduction for members, the Women's Union at all levels of Quang Ninh province has been working with local Party committees and authorities to replicate many effective economic models, helping many member households sustainably reduce poverty and increase income.
With the motto “Leave no one behind”, Quang Ninh is entering the phase of implementing the goals of the new multidimensional poverty standard in a direction higher than the Central poverty standard. The provincial sectors and localities are making efforts to effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction, especially in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, and islands, with the core and highest goal of poverty reduction of the province being to increase people's income.
The Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee has set a goal: By the end of 2024, the entire province will have no more poor households and reduce 50% of near-poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standards applied in the province; by 2025, Quang Ninh will have no more poor or near-poor households.
To achieve this goal, in recent years, Quang Ninh province has issued and implemented a series of Resolutions on building a new rural program, as well as on sustainable socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security in communes, villages, and hamlets in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, and islands of Quang Ninh province; policies on culture, education, health, housing, and production land in implementing sustainable poverty reduction. Thanks to the good implementation of these important policies, thousands of near-poor and poor households in the province have risen out of poverty sustainably, especially ethnic minority people.
Implementing gender mainstreaming in sustainable poverty reduction, to create livelihoods for poor women, the Women's Union at all levels of Quang Ninh province has coordinated to build economic development models for members, women, especially those living in ethnic minority, mountainous, border and island areas.
Quang Ninh Provincial Women's Union focuses all resources to support poor women and women in difficult circumstances to develop their economy.
Specifically, in the Project "Supporting Women to Start a Business in the 2017-2025 Period" (Project 939), the Provincial Women's Union has directed local women's unions to proactively develop plans to effectively integrate into annual activities, programs and movements based on the actual situation. In particular, promoting the implementation of the movement "Women help each other develop family economy", the model "Women's groups linking to develop the economy". At the same time, supporting women to borrow capital through effectively exploiting preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policies, women's support funds of the Women's Union.
Implementing the movements "Women do good business", "Help poor women have addresses"..., the Provincial Women's Union directed all levels of women's unions to focus all resources to support poor women, women in difficult circumstances to develop the economy, increase income; help member households register to implement economic development models suitable to the characteristics of each locality, associated with economic restructuring in building new rural areas (NTM), support plants, breeds, capital, transfer of scientific and technical advances, product consumption...
Many models have been maintained and implemented effectively by women's union members, helping households stabilize their lives and create jobs for local workers, such as models of growing straw mushrooms and guava in Hoanh Bo ward (Ha Long city); raising goats for breeding in Binh Lieu district; growing yellow tea flowers in Ba Che district; tourism services in Ha Long city, Co To district, Van Don district... Many new products have been tested by union members, initially bringing about efficiency, such as: Raising sows, commercial chickens, growing Japanese sweet potatoes, purple sugarcane, clean vegetables, red peanuts...
According to the representative of the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province, the Women's Union at all levels in the province is continuing to improve the quality of life for members, associated with economic development and sustainable poverty reduction.
