Tet goods volume increased by 20%
In 2024, although the locality suffered heavy damage caused by storm No. 3, with the determination and participation of the entire political system from the Central, local and people in the province, the storm recovery was basically completed, people stabilized production and business again. Quang Ninh's economy always maintained the province's socio-economic growth target of reaching double digits with retail sales of goods for the whole year increasing by 14.2% over the same period last year.

In addition, consumer stimulus activities of traders in the province have been continuously implemented to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists, especially at the end of 2024 and Lunar New Year 2025.
Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh - said: Distribution and retail businesses have displayed and introduced Tet products for people and tourists to visit and choose to shop with a total volume of goods increasing by about 20% compared to the same period and 3 times higher than the goods on sale in October 2024. This shows that the purchasing power of goods during Tet 2025 is also somewhat affected. However, the level of impact is not high, the consumption trend in 2025 focuses on product quality, thereby enhancing product value.
“A good thing for Vietnamese-made goods is the joint effort to promote the campaign for Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods. Currently, many businesses selling essential goods and necessities for the Lunar New Year have been choosing Vietnamese-made products to display and introduce their products; consumers are also gradually getting into the habit of consuming Vietnamese-made goods. From there, it helps organizations and individuals producing goods in the province in particular and the whole country in general have more motivation and new developments in exploiting and searching for domestic market information to develop production and business for the unit” – Ms. Thuong affirmed.
Regarding market prices, the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade said that currently, the prices of consumer goods and services tend to increase by 8-15% compared to the same period in 2024. The price increase is concentrated on a number of items such as: Rice, green vegetables, seafood, increased pork, chicken. However, the price increase is still under control (the cause of the price increase is due to the general developments of the world market, prolonged cold weather, and increased labor costs).
Ensuring supply of goods for Lunar New Year 2025
To ensure goods to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025 in Quang Ninh province, and at the same time implement the directives and directions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Party Committee, and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, the Department of Industry and Trade has chaired and coordinated with localities to successfully organize the Quang Ninh OCOP Fair - Autumn-Winter 2024 in Mong Cai city in December 2024 and the Quang Ninh OCOP Fair - Spring 2025" in Ha Long city in January 2025.

In addition, the Department has also issued a plan to ensure supply-demand balance and stabilize market prices to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists in the province during the end of 2024 to the Lunar New Year 2025.
At the same time, closely monitor the developments of supply and demand, market prices in the locality and proactively have plans to ensure goods to serve the consumption needs of the people before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025; encourage establishments to proactively have plans to open earlier and close later than the current time from 60 - 90 minutes every day to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists from December 30, 2024 to January 28, 2025;
Enterprises and stores trading in gasoline and LPG in the province must ensure a stable supply of gasoline and LPG to serve the production and consumption of people and businesses before, during and after the 2025 Lunar New Year, without interruption of supply...
“We have been, are and will continue to coordinate with localities to monitor the developments of supply and demand, market prices from now until after the Lunar New Year. Thereby, we require establishments operating in the field of industry and trade to strictly comply with the State's regulations on production and trading of goods. Strictly prohibit the production and trading of smuggled goods, banned goods, counterfeit goods and commercial fraud. The Department will also coordinate with agencies and functional units to strengthen market inspection and control; prevent violations in the last months of the year, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025" - Ms. Thuong said.
It is known that the sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities of Quang Ninh have strengthened the monitoring of supply and demand developments and market prices; strengthened the inspection and supervision of compliance with legal regulations on food safety, the Law on Commerce, origin of goods and the fight against commercial fraud... in the production and trading of goods to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists in the province, focusing on holidays, New Year, before, during and after Lunar New Year 2025.

Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thuong emphasized: Currently, the market supply and demand situation in the province is basically stable compared to the same period last year. Localities with mountainous, remote and island areas have daily shipments of goods transported from the mainland and plains to mountainous, remote and island areas to serve the shopping needs of the people. Goods are abundant and diverse, and there has been no discovery of hoarding, shortage of goods or illegal price increases.
In particular, during the peak period of market inspection and control at the end of 2024 and before the Lunar New Year 2025, the Provincial Market Management Department inspected and handled 112 cases/112 subjects/149 administrative violations with a total fine of VND 7,429,959,367 .
Production and business establishments in the province have proactively developed/adjusted their production and business plans and solutions to ensure serving the consumption of people and tourists in the province.
In the run-up to Tet, businesses, manufacturing facilities as well as commercial centers, supermarkets and retail stores in the province have stepped up production; increased the import of goods for Tet, prepared supplies that ensure quality, origin and listed prices as well as sold at the listed prices.
“Currently, the whole province has reserved about 1,300 billion VND worth of goods to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists, mainly concentrated in a number of large distribution units such as Winmart+ chain stores expected to prepare about 170 billion VND, Go Ha Long supermarket about 128 billion VND; MM Mega Market supermarket about 110 billion VND… ” - Ms. Thuong informed.
Up to now, essential consumer goods, necessities, and goods with high consumer demand during Tet are ready to serve people's consumption needs.
| It is expected that the shopping time for many people will start from December 20th onwards. Along with that, convenience stores and supermarkets will open all payment counters, customer service points of the unit and add some payment points in the unit; some units operating markets, supermarkets, and convenience stores will open and close 60-90 minutes earlier and later than usual from December 20th, 2024 of the lunar calendar to the afternoon of the 30th of Tet to help consumers pay for goods quickly, conveniently and shop. |
