Quang Ninh officially has the 5th city directly under the province

On the morning of November 1, Quang Ninh province announced the decision to establish Dong Trieu city on the basis of upgrading Dong Trieu town and announced the decision to merge 4 commune-level localities.

This morning (November 1), the Dong Trieu City Party Committee held a conference to announce the decision of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee on the establishment of the Dong Trieu City Party Committee and the decision of the City Party Committee Executive Committee on the establishment of the Duc Chinh Ward Party Committee, Viet Dan Commune Party Committee and the Party Committees of 4 communes upgraded to wards.

At the conference, the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee presented the decision of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Executive Committee on the establishment of the Dong Trieu City Party Committee on the basis of all 48 grassroots party cells and party members of the old town.

After 9 years of establishing the town, Dong Trieu has made efforts to implement planning and population targets, especially socio-economic development, to reach type III urban status by 2020.

In the period from 2021-2025, Dong Trieu mobilized 27,500 billion VND from the State budget and socialized capital to invest in synchronously upgrading traffic, technical, urban infrastructure, water supply and drainage systems and improving the quality of people's lives.

The transport infrastructure of the young city of Dong Trieu has been creating regional and inter-regional connections, well meeting the requirements of local socio-economic development.

On September 28, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed a Resolution on the establishment of Dong Trieu City, which officially took effect from November 1, 2024. This result demonstrates the will and constant efforts of the entire Party Committee and people of Dong Trieu.
