Quang Nam strives to "enter its name" on the railway tourism map

According to the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, in 2024, the unit upgraded and renovated the interior of 29 carriages (2 carriages) to operate the high-quality train SE21/22 on the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route since the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang City; organized the train "Da Lat Night Journey" on April 14, 2024 and put into operation the train "Lareiner (Queen) Da Lat - Trai Mat" on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.

In addition, the organization runs the train "Connecting Central Heritage" Hue - Da Nang (put into operation on March 26, 2024) and has been voted in the top 9 impressive tourism products of Hue in 2024; continues to promote the Hai Phong Food tour program by train on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route... In 2024, the number of tickets sold online accounted for about 60% of the ticket sales of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company.

Notably, in December 2024, Railway Transport Joint Stock Company cooperated with PYS Tourism Company Limited to test the luxury tourist train SJourney, which has created a buzz on the world train tourism map.

Mr. Ha Trong Thang - Deputy General Director of Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that traveling by train gives tourists a different perspective on the beauty of Vietnam. There, tourists can relax and admire the green rice fields, majestic mountains, long coastlines, bustling cities or peaceful villages.

On January 12, 2025, the Quang Nam tourism industry organized to welcome a group of luxury guests from the SJourney train to Tra Kieu station (Duy Xuyen) to visit and experience some unique and famous green tourism products such as Hoi An ancient town, Au Lac cultural destination in Cam Phu - Go Noi village (Dien Ban), Thanh Ha pottery village, Cam Thanh countryside village... (SJourney is a train designed with international standards, the journey lasts 8 days - 7 nights across Vietnam, connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with provinces and cities, the ticket price for each passenger participating in this tour is about 8,610 USD).

According to Mr. Le Hoang Ha - Director of Duy Nhat Hoi An Tourism Service Company Limited, this tour regularly departs from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, Quang Nam has the advantage of being located at the midpoint of this route.

On the other hand, Quang Nam possesses many unique values, typical of Vietnamese tourism, so visitors from the SJourney ship when stopping to experience it are very excited and appreciate it.

Quang Nam's move

According to the joint plan on cooperation in promoting and developing tourism in Quang Nam and railways in the period of 2024 - 2026, the relevant parties will develop tourism products by railway; contributing to increasing the number of tourists coming to Quang Nam by rail through Tra Kieu station and Tam Ky station.

At the same time, expand the connecting route "Central Heritage Train" between tourist destinations; connect and promote tourism development links between railways and tourism service businesses in Quang Nam province.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that since the implementation of cooperation, the number of tourists coming to Quang Nam by rail has been increasing gradually.

Since the beginning of the year, Quang Nam has welcomed 7 international tourist groups by rail to visit and experience products and services, most of whom are from Europe and the US, and is continuing to prepare to welcome many registered groups by the end of the year.

In the coming planning period, Quang Nam will develop a railway station system connected to railway lines passing through the province according to the national railway planning, the existing North-South railway line, the North-South high-speed railway line and the Da Nang - Central Highlands railway line.

At the same time, research is being done to invest in two urban railway lines connecting Da Nang's urban railway network, including the line connecting from Chu Lai International Airport and the line connecting from Hoi An City. It can be seen that the opportunity to promote railway tourism through Quang Nam is still very large.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong informed that in the coming time, Quang Nam tourism industry will step up calling for investment in product development, adding more typical green and sustainable products of each locality such as culture - art, cuisine, OCOP products... into the "railway ecosystem" to enhance the experience for tourists.

In addition, build specialized products for whole cars and whole groups according to the requirements of tourists; expand and connect between localities to build and form products and chains of special railway tourism products to attract tourists; encourage travel companies to build new tourism products associated with railways and organize tour programs for tourists to choose to travel by rail...
