Quang Nam issued a resolution to establish Tak Po and A Tieng towns and expand the administrative boundaries of Huong An town.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Council approved the policy of establishing Tak Po town (Nam Tra My) on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​103.09 km2 and population of 4,523 people of Tra Mai commune. Tak Po town borders Bac Tra My district and the communes of Tra Cang, Tra Don, Tra Don, Tra Tap, Tra Van (Nam Tra My).

After the establishment of Tak Po town, Nam Tra My district has 10 commune-level administrative units, including the town (Tak Po) and the communes of Tra Cang, Tra Don, Tra Don, Tra Leng, Tra Linh, Tra Nam, Tra Tap, Tra Van and Tra Vinh. The headquarters of the Tak Po town People's Committee is located at the current headquarters of the Tra Mai commune People's Committee.

The Provincial People's Council also agreed to establish A Tieng town (Tay Giang) on ​​the basis of the entire natural area of ​​59.98 km2 and population of 4,062 people of A Tieng commune. A Tieng town borders A Nong, Bha Lee, Dang, Lang communes of Tay Giang district and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

After the establishment of A Tieng town, Tay Giang district has 10 commune-level administrative units, including A Tieng town and the communes of A Nong, A Vuong, A Xan, Bha Leê, Ch'Ôm, Dang, Ga Ry, Lang and Tr'Hy). The headquarters of the People's Committee of A Tieng town is located at the current headquarters of the People's Committee of A Tieng commune.

In addition, the Provincial People's Council also agreed to expand the administrative boundaries of Huong An town (Que Son) based on adjusting the natural area of ​​4.93 km2 and the population of 2,990 people of Que My commune to merge into Huong An town. After the adjustment and expansion, Huong An town has a natural area of ​​16.10 km2 and a population of 11,736 people.

Huong An town borders Que My and Que Phu communes of Que Son district; Duy Xuyen district and Thang Binh district. After adjustment and expansion, Que My commune has a natural area of ​​34.52 km2 and a population of 8,931 people, bordering Huong An town, Thang Binh district and Que Thuan, Que Phu, Que Xuan 2 communes (Que Son district).

Thus, after the establishment of Tak Po and A Tieng towns and the expansion of the administrative boundaries of Huong An town, Quang Nam has 17 district-level administrative units, including 14 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; there are 233 commune-level administrative units, including 188 communes, 29 wards and 16 towns.
