(NLDO) - President Luong Cuong stated that by the end of 2024, the organization of the Vietnam People's Army will be basically streamlined, compact, and strong.
On the afternoon of February 20, President Luong Cuong worked with the Ministry of National Defense on the results of implementing Resolution 05 of the Politburo on the organization of the Vietnam People's Army for the 2021-2030 period and the following years.

Also attending were General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, and leaders of central ministries and branches.
At the working session, reporting on the implementation results of Resolution 05, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff, Deputy Minister of National Defense, said that in recent times, with a deep understanding of the Party's policies and viewpoints on building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Army, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have resolutely directed the adjustment of force organization in a systematic and scientific manner; while working, they have learned from experience and adjusted the Plan accordingly. Closely combining organizational work with policy work and ideological work, creating consensus throughout the army; not affecting the regular and ad hoc political tasks of agencies and units.
At the same time, the Ministry of National Defense has dissolved and merged a number of affiliated agencies and units, and established a number of new units. The organization of agencies and units from the Ministry level to the campaign and tactical levels has been adjusted, with a synchronous and reasonable structure between components and forces, without overlapping functions and tasks; and the number of intermediate contacts and service units has been reduced.
Adjust the military deployment in all three regions of the North, Central and South in all five combat environments. In addition, strengthen the construction of military zone defense posture; build provinces and centrally-run cities into solid defense areas in the new situation; increase the number of troops for newly established units, units performing training missions, and combat readiness in key strategic areas, borders, seas, islands, etc.
At the meeting, President Luong Cuong expressed his agreement with the opinions and highly appreciated and commended the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense for thoroughly grasping and implementing Resolution 05 and the direct direction of the General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission.
The President stated that by the end of 2024, the organization of the Vietnam People's Army will be basically streamlined, compact, and strong; have a synchronous and reasonable organizational structure among its components and forces; and be 1 year ahead of schedule compared to the target set out in Resolution No. 05. In the process of implementing major organizational adjustments, attention has been paid to resolving reasonable policies and regimes, creating high unity among officers and soldiers throughout the army.

The President suggested that in the coming time, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense need to study and review the country's situation in the context of strong development and preparation for organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, and at the same time assess the current world situation to make proposals and recommendations on continuing to implement Resolution No. 05 appropriately; continue to excellently fulfill the functions and tasks of a combat army, a working army, and a production labor army.
The President emphasized that the Army needs to be exemplary in thoroughly grasping and concretizing the requirements of the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee on continuing to implement Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, building a lean, compact, strong, effective, efficient and effective political system; arranging and adjusting the merger of organizations with similar functions and tasks to ensure leanness, compactness and strength; implementing the principle that one agency performs many tasks, one task is assigned to only one agency to preside over and take primary responsibility.
Based on functions and tasks, solutions must be found to handle all situations well; uphold the Party's organizational leadership principles; ensure the Party's absolute and direct leadership in all aspects over the Vietnam People's Army.
At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, General Departments and agencies of the Ministry of National Defense accepted the direction; at the same time, they hoped that the President would continue to pay attention and create conditions for the Ministry to continue adjusting the organization of the force to be lean, compact, strong, and build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army according to the Party's resolutions.
