On the afternoon of August 23, speaking with VietNamNet, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province Dang Xuan Phong said that he had checked the scores on the score announcement system and did not understand where the data on the screen of the LKA candidates' families came from. Mr. Phong added that, according to the explanation of experts, there were cases where the numbers on the display screen could be edited but the edited numbers were not saved in the system. The Department has advised parents to file a re-examination application to ensure the rights of the candidates. At the same time, they will continue to verify, clarify and inform the press to have a more multi-dimensional view.
Regarding this incident, immediately after receiving the information, at 3:00 p.m. on August 23, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province had a working session with individuals and units related to the department's leaders, representatives of the provincial police and representatives of Viettel Thai Binh, representatives of the Board of Directors of Hoang Dieu Secondary School - Thai Binh City and Ms. Lu Thi Diep (parent of candidate LKA).
At the meeting, Ms. Diep presented that her child's Math score had changed when looking up at different times on the Thai Binh Province Primary Admission System. The family provided 3 screenshots and requested to file a request for a review of the Math score for student LKA (born September 26, 2009, registration number 240286, registered for admission at Chu Van An High School).
Ms. Diep said that the first announced score of LKA was Literature 7.25; Math 4.5; English 4.2; encouragement score 2. After the inspection, at 9:02 a.m. on August 20, the family checked and found that the score for Literature was 7.25; Math 5.5; English 4.2. At 4:14 p.m. on August 20, the family continued to check and the score was the same as in the morning. At 9:00 a.m. on August 21, the family checked and received the score for English 4.2; Literature 7.25; Math 0.5, so they asked the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province to review.
According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh, the representative of Viettel Thai Binh opened the search history (log) on the Thai Binh Provincial Primary Admission System with the presence of the members attending the meeting. The results showed that the candidate's score was searched more than 20 times. All the searches for Math were 0.5 points (with detailed search history attached; including one search at 9:02:58'' (coinciding with the time provided by the family).
Currently, the family of candidate LKA has filed a request for appeal.
On the evening of August 23, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Lu Thi Diep expressed that she is not an information officer and is questioning her child's rights.
This afternoon’s meeting showed her how to change her score on the system, but she said she was “tech-illiterate” and did not understand how to change it on the system. She also added that on August 20, she only looked up her score 4 times at most, and one time the system had an error.
“At the meeting, I expressed my wish that even if my child got zero points in Math today, I would like to see my child's test,” Ms. Diep expressed her wish.
