Hanoi Women's Club played 2 matches (1 loss, 1 draw) in this tournament, ranked last in Group B, and was eliminated in the group stage - a poor performance showing the decline of women's football in the capital.
To stop the decline, many things need to be done, the most obvious of which is to improve the quality of the squad through youth training and buying good players from elsewhere. Regarding youth training and education, the most important thing is to have an abundant source of recruits, from which to discover and find ways to convince "rising stars" with great development potential to follow the "shorts and jersey" career. The problem is where to find them?
Social life today is very different from before. It is difficult for children to study all day, leaving little time for playing, let alone practicing sports in a context where there are too few playgrounds; boys are like that, girls also face psychological barriers when many people think that football is not a good choice for women... Therefore, the recruitment source is extremely limited, do not think that working hard to go here and there like before will find enough human factors for a strong women's football.
Vietnamese football wants to learn from Japan and some countries with advanced sports, but perhaps we are only learning about the issues related to top-level sports - the tip of the iceberg, but have not yet learned how they take care of the root. Mass sports, especially school sports, are the most important part to have that root factor. From school sports being taken care of comprehensively, the US and Japan have world champions in many sports, have very strong women's football teams...
Currently, to expand the source of athletes in general and football players in particular, we must change the way we do things, from passively waiting for talent to come into our sight to proactively creating a source of recruitment. Taking advantage of the team of teachers and sports collaborators at the grassroots level and in schools to discover young talents is the right way, but not enough. The big thing to do is to invest in facilities to serve the requirements of developing school sports, periodically organizing a systematic sports tournament for students... That is something that the Sports industry alone, or a sports federation, sports club, football team, a commune, or a province cannot do.
