A representative of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that near the Lunar New Year, Hanoi streets are congested all day, always in a "rush hour" state.
On the morning of January 12, a representative of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that during the weekends before Tet, people's travel needs increased, causing traffic in the city to be always crowded. This is the main reason why many roads are congested even on weekends.
"To reduce traffic congestion and facilitate people's travel for Tet, the Traffic Police Department has arranged 100% of officers and soldiers to direct traffic on the roads," said a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
According to records recorded in the morning of the same day, on the beltway 2 (section through Cau Giay district), although it was Sunday, the number of vehicles participating in traffic was very high, so Traffic Police Team No. 3 had to arrange forces to regulate traffic from early morning.
At Nga Tu So (Dong Da district), traffic police continuously commanded and guided vehicles to reduce pressure at intersections. At Lang - Yen Lang and Lang - Lang Ha intersections, traffic police were also deployed to direct and regulate traffic, ensuring smooth and safe movement of people.
Captain Nguyen Van Long - Traffic Police Team No. 3 shared that at the end of the year, especially on weekends, people take advantage of the opportunity to go shopping for Tet, so the number of vehicles increases dramatically.
"Traffic police not only have to regulate traffic during rush hours in the morning and afternoon, but also have to work at noon. In particular, traffic flow plans must constantly change," said Captain Nguyen Van Long.
Lieutenant Colonel Dang Hong Giang - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 3 said that the Ring Road 2 area is a closed inner-city traffic route of Hanoi, 43.6 km long... On normal days, there is already a high density of vehicles, sometimes even overloaded with traffic. However, on days close to Tet, traffic volume increases many times, even 3-5 times.
According to the representative of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, from December 15, the unit has implemented a peak plan to ensure traffic order and safety before, during and after Tet. Traffic police will be mobilized to the maximum, focusing on traffic flow and regulation to prevent congestion. In addition, the Traffic Police will also increase patrols, control and strictly handle violations that cause congestion and traffic accidents, ensuring people can travel smoothly and enjoy the New Year safely.
