Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan holds talks with Permanent Vice President of Venezuela

NDO - At the invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Permanent Vice President and Minister of Petroleum of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez Gomez paid a working visit to Vietnam from October 29 to 30.

On the morning of October 29, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Permanent Vice President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez Gomez held official talks. The two sides informed each other about the recent situation in each country, exchanged directions and measures to strengthen the Vietnam-Venezuela Comprehensive Partnership, and discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan warmly welcomed and highly appreciated the visit to Vietnam by Permanent Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Gomez, which coincided with the two countries celebrating the 35th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (December 18, 1989 - December 18, 2024).

The Vice President affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Venezuela, and wishes to develop the bilateral relationship in an increasingly deeper and more practical manner, in line with the potential, strengths and needs of both sides.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the two sides increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, through the Party, State, National Assembly, localities and people-to-people exchanges; maintain and promote the effectiveness of established cooperation mechanisms; encourage and create conditions for the business community to strengthen connections, promote trade and boost investment opportunities.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Gomez expressed her pleasure to return to Vietnam, sharing her good impressions of her previous visit to Vietnam in 2015. The Vice President expressed her admiration for Vietnam's history of national liberation struggle, congratulated Vietnam's achievements in Doi Moi, especially its impressive economic growth rate, considering this as Vietnam's contribution to the world and a model for Venezuela to follow. The Vice President affirmed that the Venezuelan Government always attaches importance to and prioritizes strengthening relations with Vietnam, and wishes to accompany and cooperate with Vietnam for mutual development.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Venezuelan Permanent Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Gomez expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, notably the results of the recent bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Nicolas Maduro on October 24, the visit to Venezuela by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in April 2024, and the visit to Vietnam by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto in June 2024.

The two leaders agreed on a number of measures to further deepen the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the coming time in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, agriculture, energy, culture and people-to-people exchange; concretize cooperation opportunities in potential areas such as telecommunications and construction. The two sides agreed to soon organize the 4th meeting of the Vietnam-Venezuela Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee and the 10th Deputy Foreign Minister-level Political Consultation; coordinate to review and promote negotiations on cooperation agreements, create a legal framework for multifaceted cooperation; maintain coordination and support each other at international organizations and multilateral forums.

Discussing international and regional issues of mutual concern, the two leaders agreed that international disagreements and disputes should be resolved by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the United Nations Charter.

* During the visit, Venezuelan Permanent Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Gomez laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visited the Ho Chi Minh stilt house relic site, as well as a number of historical sites and cultural establishments in Hanoi; members of the Venezuelan high-ranking delegation also had working meetings with Vietnamese partners.
