King and Queen of Belgium visit Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of April 3, in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam, Belgian King Philippe and Queen Mathild visited the War Remnants Museum and met with a number of child victims of Agent Orange.

At the War Remnants Museum (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City), Belgian King Philippe and Queen Mathild listened to an introduction and visited the special exhibition room “Consequences of Agent Orange during the American war of aggression in Vietnam”; and met some children who are victims of Agent Orange.

At the event “Agent Orange: From the Past to the Future”, Mr. Maxime Prevot, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of Belgium, said that today, historical changes in the geopolitical aspect are taking place at a dizzying speed. In that context, the Kingdom of Belgium always accompanies Vietnam, one of the proofs of which is that the Belgian Federal Parliament passed the Resolution to support Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange with an absolute majority of votes in favor.

Mr. Maxime Prevot emphasized that, not only stopping at a commitment on paper, Belgium is always ready to accompany its Vietnamese friends. To support and to ease the pain, through science and technical cooperation in the treatment and cleaning of dioxin-contaminated soil, backed by a solid financial solution.

Also at this event, King Philippe and Queen Mathild were introduced to the Aquitara Impact Fund - a Belgian investment fund whose mission is to accompany Haemers Technologies on its journey to combine environmental restoration with economic reconstruction; remediate polluted land, develop eco-industrial parks and integrate renewable energy.

At noon of the same day, King Philippe and Queen Mathild of Belgium visited Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (District 3) to learn about Vietnamese Buddhist culture. Before that, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, had a meeting with King Philippe and Queen Mathild of Belgium at the Reunification Hall.
