The spirit of nearly 1,000 years of patriotism, love of learning, and the will to rise up to stand side by side with the world's great powers of the Vietnamese people seems to converge in the opening space of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia said: "In the cause of fighting for national independence and unification, building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in renovation and international integration, our Party and State always pay special attention to the cultural field, including reading culture.
In order for culture to become an endogenous strength, resource and driving force for national development, first of all we need to continue to thoroughly grasp and promote propaganda and education about the meaning and importance of books and reading culture in nurturing and developing knowledge, skills, developing thinking and training human personality, enhancing self-awareness in reading, considering reading as a self-study method that achieves the most practical results.
In his opening statement of the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said: "We are in the ancient space of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam - the place that used to be the place to train scholars and talented people of the country, a place that symbolizes the spirit of respecting teachers, loving letters and cherishing books of the national tradition" and affirmed that talented people of any era are the vital energy of the nation. To have talented people, books always play an important role.
Developing a reading culture is promoting the endogenous strength of the entire nation. The series of events on Book and Reading Culture Day this time will inspire reading culture, helping Vietnamese people love books and further develop their strength.
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, the Department of External Information, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports (Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam) to organize an exhibition of electronic books about the special national relic of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam; photos and books about the country and people of Vietnam on modern electronic versions and direct publications.
At Van Lake campus, the book fair to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day took place bustlingly, welcoming many readers.
The book fair has the participation of nearly 60 publishing and book distribution units nationwide, providing more than 40,000 books, bringing book lovers many attractive exchange programs and events, diverse in genres and quantity of publications.
During the activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic site is decorated with designs on book themes such as displaying national history books, Vietnamese cultural history books, 3D books about the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam...
The third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day was organized in a diverse and rich way, combining traditional activities with modern organization methods following the development trend of technology platforms and digital transformation.
A series of activities aimed at the messages: "Good books need readers"; "Precious books for friends"; "Give good books - Buy real books"; "Good books: Eyes to read - Ears to listen"
Book introduction activities; author and work exchanges; art programs; and discussions will take place at the Thuy Dinh area in Ho Van.
The Opening Ceremony was elaborately staged with unique cultural and artistic performances. The highlight was the 3D mapping performance combined with sound and light at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.
