Applying digital technology at Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum helps visitors have better experiences when learning about documents and artifacts.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum currently has more than 30,000 artifacts displayed in historical order. With the innovation of display methods and the application of digital transformation (DT), in recent years the Provincial Museum has become a unique cultural space, attracting a large number of people and tourists, contributing to adding vitality to this "unique" destination.

Currently, the outstanding application of digital technology at Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum includes the 3D tour application on the website and QR code scanning to help visitors visit and learn about documents and artifacts in the most convenient and complete way. Notably, in 2022, the Provincial Museum completed the digitization of 3 national treasures including the Nua Mountain short sword, Cam Giang I bronze drum and Cam Thuy bronze cauldron, helping visitors access the treasures in multidimensional space, with surreal experiences.

Director of the Provincial Museum Trinh Dinh Duong shared: “The application of digital technology not only helps the artifacts and documents here have the opportunity to be closer to the public, but also makes the management and preservation work more professional and accurate. In particular, the application of virtual reality technology has helped visitors approach national treasures in a vivid way, being able to see every detail and pattern on the artifacts instead of just looking and listening to explanations like before.”

According to the Project "Innovation of Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum activities to 2030", in the period of 2023-2025, the Provincial Museum will digitize 10-15% of the artifacts and documents currently preserved. In the next 5 years, digitization of artifacts and documents will reach 20-30% of the total number of artifacts... At the same time, applying 4.0 technology to 4 permanent exhibition rooms according to historical progress, using intelligent automatic explanation systems. Thereby, aiming to introduce and promote the value of typical collections of artifacts about the land, history - culture, and people of Thanh Hoa province to the public, making the Provincial Museum an attractive destination.

In recent years, the "digitalization of red addresses" in the province has been increasingly effectively implemented. Recently (October 27), the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union completed and launched the project to digitize the Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site (Tho Xuan). This is where the Conference to establish the Provincial Party Committee took place on July 29, 1930 on the basis of merging the first 3 Communist Party cells of the Provincial Party Committee. By integrating information into QR codes and applying virtual reality technology here, visitors will easily learn about detailed events, data... about the relic site in an intuitive and vivid way. Thereby opening up the direction of developing the Yen Truong Revolutionary Historical Relic Site into a cultural - historical destination, contributing to spreading the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of bravery and resilience in the struggle to protect the Fatherland to all classes of people, especially the young generation.

Up to now, when visiting some relics in the province such as Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site (Tho Xuan), Ho Dynasty Citadel Cultural Heritage Site (Vinh Loc), Nua - Am Tien Temple Historical Relic Site (Trieu Son), Ngoc Trao Guerrilla War Zone (Thach Thanh), Le Huu Lap Memorial Site (Hau Loc)... people and tourists only need a smartphone with internet connection to visit and learn about the destination. Among them, Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site is gradually moving towards becoming a "smart destination", with technology applications deployed here such as QR code scanning; a system of 28 automatic explanation points; Smart Travel Platform technology... helping visitors easily learn and feel the value of the destination more fully.

Head of Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board, Nguyen Xuan Toan said: “In the current period, digital transformation and increasing the application of information technology in the work of preserving and promoting cultural values ​​in general and historical relics in particular are extremely necessary. This is the bridge to bring cultural values ​​and heritages closer to the community. Implementing the heritage digitization program, in recent times, Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board has coordinated with units to deploy the application of information technology in managing and introducing destinations. Thereby, the image of Lam Kinh Historical Relic with its unique cultural and historical values ​​is increasingly closer to tourists, while contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the community in joining hands to protect the relics”.

It can be said that cultural heritage plays an important role in promoting economic growth and is a solid foundation for people's spiritual life. Therefore, preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage through digital transformation is becoming more and more important.
