When entering the job market, students must always be ready to face any situation because anything can happen. Perseverance, never giving up, optimism are the keys to success.

This is the sharing of diplomat Ton Nu Thi Ninh - President of Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation at the talk show "Limitations and advantages of Vietnam and Vietnamese people in building and forming human resources to meet the requirements of the new stage" organized by Hoa Sen University (Ho Chi Minh City) on March 1.

Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, Vice President of Hoa Sen University, said that to realize Vietnam's goals, a breakthrough in human resources, especially high-quality human resources, will be one of the key factors. However, many experts believe that our country's labor market has not kept up with the pace and development of the economy and society, and its adaptability, proactiveness, and flexibility are still low, especially in the face of fluctuations such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vietnam's human resources are considered to be both "surplus and shortage", with an excess of cheap labor, but a shortage of highly skilled workers. The foreign language proficiency of Vietnamese workers is not high, so they face many difficulties in the process of international integration.

At the talk, many opinions said that, besides some advantages, young Vietnamese human resources today still have some limitations. In which, the most prominent is the lack of confidence and initiative in work.

According to Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh, in the culture of labor, there is social and national culture. Western education helps young people and workers gain confidence, but this sometimes makes them not spend enough time and the right amount to listen and understand the problem. Meanwhile, young people in Eastern culture have a bit slow reflexes, but this helps them have time to think and evaluate the problem correctly. In the context of an increasingly equal world, young Vietnamese workers need to be more alert and try harder.

Regarding the causes of the limitations of Vietnamese human resources, according to Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh, it is due to the lack of proper encouragement of the initiative of young people. According to her, society needs to further encourage the confidence and initiative of young people through various forms such as media and family education. Particularly, education in schools has had positive changes, however, it is necessary to strengthen methods and encourage young people to proactively equip themselves.

According to Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh, currently, workers are supported a lot by technology, artificial intelligence (AI), ChatGPT... but no matter how much technology develops, people are still needed, the "key" is still the human brain, heart, and hands. Human resources are an important and decisive factor in the development of businesses. Therefore, education must be valued, and the relationship between businesses and places that train workers and human resources must be valued.

According to Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, with the effort to improve the quality of training, help graduates to immediately meet the requirements of businesses, reduce the time for additional training and retraining, the cooperation between schools and businesses in training high-quality human resources is always focused on development. The school always creates conditions for students, in addition to professional knowledge, to explore and position themselves, equipping them with necessary soft skills by participating in activities outside the training program.

From her own experiences, Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh emphasized that when entering the labor market, students must always be ready to face all situations. In addition, it is necessary to find out specifically about the business they want to apply for, what kind of human resources the business needs, how many people they need to evaluate the opportunities as well as the challenges they face.
