Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized the strong friendship between the two countries and peoples, and wished to continue to further develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam.

On June 25, at the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and concurrently to Palestine Nguyen Huy Dung presented the Letter of Credentials of President Vo Van Thuong to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas online, officially becoming our country's non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Palestine.
At the ceremony to present his credentials, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung expressed his honor to be appointed as Vietnamese Ambassador to Palestine, affirming that he will try his best to contribute to strengthening and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine.
The Ambassador conveyed the warm regards of the President and senior leaders of Vietnam to President Mahmoud Abbas. Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung informed the Palestinian President about the socio-economic development achievements as well as the outstanding results of Vietnam in more than 35 years of Doi Moi.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always supports the just cause as well as efforts to promote peace and development of the Palestinian people.
President Abbas welcomed Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung to carry out his duties in the State of Palestine and wished the Ambassador to successfully complete his duties during his term, contributing to strengthening and developing the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Palestine .
Mr. Abbas emphasized the strong affection and friendship between the two countries and peoples, and expressed his admiration for Vietnam's development achievements and wished to continue to further develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam.
On behalf of President Abbas, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab Allouh received the Letter of Credence from Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung.
In 1976, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) established its permanent office in Hanoi. Vietnam recognized the State of Palestine and established diplomatic relations with Palestine on November 19, 1988.
In 2012, Vietnam voted in favor of the Resolution granting non-member observer state status to Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.
Vietnam also supports Palestine's joining international organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).../.
