Further promote the friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand

On the afternoon of February 7, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya on the occasion of the Ambassador's new term of office.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya on her appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam; affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to and creates conditions for the Ambassador to promote her important role as a bridge in further promoting the increasingly strong Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

In the context that the two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026, the Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to pay attention to and promote the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; emphasizing the wish to welcome the Thai Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Vietnam in 2025.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides maintain effective bilateral cooperation mechanisms; focus on implementing the “Three Connectivity” Strategy on the basis of ensuring interests and mutual benefits; promote tourism cooperation and infrastructure connectivity; strengthen security and defense cooperation, fight against terrorist and reactionary organizations; and ensure that no individual or organization is allowed to use the territory of one country to oppose the other.

The Prime Minister appreciated the Embassy for successfully coordinating the organization of two "Meeting Thailand" conferences in Lao Cai (August 2024) and Da Nang (September 2024) to connect businesses of the two countries; and requested the Ambassador to continue to actively participate in trade and investment promotion, economic connection, businesses and localities of the two countries.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Thai Government for creating favorable conditions for the preservation and development of relic sites, President Ho Chi Minh Museum, and Vietnam Street in Thailand; as well as creating conditions for the Thai community of Vietnamese origin to live stably and integrate into Thai society, making positive contributions to the development of Thailand and the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Urawadee respectfully conveyed the greetings of the Thai leaders to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; affirmed that he will promote the implementation of high-level visits between the two countries in 2025, including a visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister and Speaker of the Thai National Assembly; and will make every effort to promote the friendship and enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries during his term as Ambassador.

The Thai Ambassador also agreed that the two sides should continue to strengthen cooperation within the framework of ASEAN, as well as in regional organizations of which both sides are members, including ACMECS cooperation.
