OpenAI announced on February 14 that its Board of Directors had unanimously rejected a $97.4 billion acquisition offer from billionaire Elon Musk.

"OpenAI is not for sale and the board has unanimously rejected Mr. Musk's latest attempt to suppress competitors," OpenAI President Bret Taylor said in a statement, according to Reuters.
The move marks a new chapter in a long-running feud between Musk and OpenAI, which has been fueled by disagreements over the company’s direction. After Musk left OpenAI in 2019, the company established a for-profit arm that has raised hundreds of billions of dollars in funding, prompting accusations from the world’s richest man that OpenAI has violated its original mission by putting profit above the public good.
