On December 1, US President-elect Donald Trump met and had dinner with Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida (USA).
The photo of Mr. Trump and Mrs. Sara Netanyahu was shared by the president-elect's deputy communications director Margo Martin on the social platform X.

According to The Times of Israel , Sara Netanyahu has been in Miami, Florida, for the past few weeks to visit her son, Yair Netanyahu. Trump has long worked to build a good relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's family. In July, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife met with Trump. At that meeting, Trump joked that Sara was his "secret weapon." "As long as I have Sara, that's all that matters," Trump said.
The meeting between Trump and Sara comes as diplomats are trying to end the Gaza conflict. Hamas leaders held talks with Egyptian security officials on December 1 to try to end the conflict in Gaza. The trip to Cairo by Hamas leaders is the first since the US announced it would revive efforts to work with Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza, including a hostage deal.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said he thinks there is a good chance of a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza.
"Hamas is isolated. Hezbollah is no longer fighting with them, and their supporters in Iran and elsewhere are preoccupied with other conflicts. So I think we may have an opportunity to make progress, but I wouldn't predict exactly when that will happen, we've come so close so many times and we haven't been able to reach the finish line," Sullivan told CNN on December 1.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on December 1 that there are some signs of progress on the hostage exchange agreement, while affirming that Israel's conditions for ending the hostilities remain unchanged.
On the same day, Philippe Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA), announced that the agency had suspended aid deliveries through the important Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and Gaza due to safety concerns. Lazzarini also warned that hunger was rapidly increasing in Gaza.
According to Reuters, the conflict in Gaza since October 2023 has left nearly 44,400 people dead, more than 105,000 injured and hundreds of thousands of others living in dire conditions.
