Talking to VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Duc shared more about these creative works.
Duc's grandfather is Mr. Do Ca Tung (82 years old, Quang Ninh). Two days ago, Duc went back to his hometown to visit his grandfather. Seeing his grandfather's unique series of recycled products, he was surprised and found it very interesting, so he took a picture and shared it on social media.
“Every corner of the house bears my grandfather’s mark. He owns countless recycled products from simple to unique, and each item makes me extremely excited. I admire his talent and creativity,” Duc said.
Before, when he was still working, whenever he had a chance to return to his hometown, Mr. Tung would fix broken things in his house or recycle them into new ones. Since retiring and having more time, this has become a familiar job and a hobby for him.
Mr. Tung occasionally brings recycled items to his children and grandchildren.
“My grandfather said that he thought it was a waste to throw away old, broken things, so he wanted to recycle them. Moreover, he wanted to do something so as not to waste time,” Duc shared.
On average, it takes Mr. Tung about 2-3 days to complete a work. For more difficult works, it takes him about 4-5 days. Some items are repaired and function normally, while others are recycled into household items or products for display.
For Mr. Tung, recycling old things has become a hobby.
Mr. Tung's work is supported by his whole family. His wife especially preserves and cherishes her husband's works.
“My grandfather also gave some items such as lamps, fans, potted plants... to his children and grandchildren. He gave me a two-tiered fan. I love it very much.
He sometimes helps his children and grandchildren fix broken things in the house. Neighbors sometimes ask him to fix fans, TVs... and of course, for free," Duc said.
Cute products for display
The German product he likes best is the 2-storey fan.
His grandfather's most favorite recycled work is a two-tiered fan. He laughed and said: "I've been to many places and seen many things, but I've never seen a two-tiered fan like my grandfather's."
Duc admired his grandfather's creativity. He also learned from him perseverance, patience, thrift and environmental awareness.
