A special market to welcome spring

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/01/2025

A special spring market has just taken place at a kindergarten in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City to educate children about love, sharing and environmental protection.

The market named "Love"

The fair is an initiative of teachers and students of Tan Phong Kindergarten, District 7, taking place from December 23, 2024 to January 3, 2025. Before the fair took place, the school called on parents and children to contribute used items that still had a value of over 70%, such as: toys, books, clothes, decorative items, etc.

After parents bring their toys and supplies to school, teachers and children will classify, clean, recycle, and carefully put them in bags to display in booths according to each separate category.

During the "Love" market, many interesting stalls were set up, children, teachers, and parents eagerly went to the market, experienced the zero-dong stalls, the book and children's supplies stalls, the decorative items stalls, the toy stalls... The interesting thing is that the items here are sold at "unregulated" prices - that is, depending on the generosity of the buyer or given away for free, creating opportunities for other families to reuse.

Children learn to share love

The market gives love, receives sharing

Ms. Pham Bao Hanh, Principal of Tan Phong Kindergarten, said that the "Love" market not only aims to improve the learning environment, equipping the school with more green space, but also educates children about environmental protection and the spirit of mutual love. "Children participate in selecting and classifying items, learning how to share and feel the joy of giving. These are valuable lessons that help shape good personalities for children from an early age. The "Love" market is also a way for teachers and students to welcome spring 2025," said Ms. Bao Hanh.

Ms. Tran Thi Thy An, parent of Bui Tran Minh Tu, currently a 4th grader, said that this was the first time she had experienced the "Love" market organized by the school. This is an opportunity for parents to strengthen their connection with the school and interact with other parents. "I see the creativity, dynamism and humane meaning of the market. From here, children will understand and know how to live green, and know how to share with other children," Ms. Thy An shared.

Part of the toys and supplies from the market will be sent to some disadvantaged kindergartens in Can Gio district, to give to the children there.

During the entire event, the "Love" market received a lot of support from parents and the community. Just yesterday afternoon, January 3, the market received 12,130,000 VND from parents.

"Among the supplies, toys, and books that parents sent to the fair, the school reserved a portion to send to some disadvantaged preschools in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City, to share joy with other preschool children. With the money parents donated after the fair, the school will be transparent and use it to renovate the clean and green environment and build an ideal learning and playing space for children," said Ms. Bao Hanh, the school's principal.

Many activities help children understand traditional Tet

In order to help children experience the spring atmosphere and understand the traditional Tet holiday of their homeland, many kindergartens in Ho Chi Minh City have specific activities, so that children can make products by themselves and live in the vibrant atmosphere of spring.

Like Tatu Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, children can observe and make coconut jam under the guidance of teachers. Children of Sao Mai Kindergarten, District 8 also experienced the atmosphere of celebrating Tet early when the school was decorated with apricot and peach blossoms, children made sandwiches and custard apple jam with their teachers, from here the children learned about the ingredients and how to make traditional Tet dishes of their homeland.

From now until before the Lunar New Year holiday, preschools such as 19/5 City Kindergarten (District 1); City Kindergarten (District 3); Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten (District 7)... all have many activities such as Tet markets, booths for children to learn how to wrap Chung cakes, carve watermelons, make Tet jams, embroider Tet pictures, cut and paste and color the mascot of the year... both helping children practice manual dexterity (fine motor skills), know how to work in groups, and at the same time to help children enjoy the spring, integrate visual lessons about family affection, hometown customs and practices, all activities have the participation of parents to strengthen the connection between family and school...
