A family living in Hsinchu City, Taiwan (China) attracted the attention of the online community when sharing the story of their family's maid. The Indonesian maid was hired to take care of the homeowner's grandmother. She had worked for the family for 5 months.
On September 11, the woman went into labor and gave birth to a healthy baby at the homeowner's home.

Before that, the entire family had no idea that the maid was pregnant. She had always worn loose clothing, so they did not notice anything unusual. Before going to work in Taiwan (China), the woman had undergone a medical examination, but the records did not record that she was pregnant.
It is likely that the woman forged her medical records. After the foreign maid gave birth, the entire family had to take turns caring for the old woman, the mother, and the newborn baby.
According to regulations in Taiwan (China), if an employer fires a pregnant or newly-born employee, he or she will be fined 1.5 million NTD (equivalent to more than 1.1 billion VND) and lose the right to hire new workers for 2 years. Therefore, the landlord is in a very difficult situation.
According to local media, after receiving the complaint, the International Association of Domestic Workers and Families in Taiwan (China) has accepted the case and will support the maid.
The woman said that the child’s biological father lives in Indonesia. She wants to send her child back to his biological father to take care of while she stays and works for her current family. The association confirmed that it will support the maid to fulfill her wish.
Information about the incident sparked great debate in Taiwanese (Chinese) public opinion because the unlucky party, facing all kinds of tiring problems, was the host family.
"I agree with the regulation that employers are not allowed to fire female employees who are pregnant or have just given birth, but in this specific case, I think the most pitiful party is this unjust landlord," commented a netizen.
