Trang Luong Commune (Dong Trieu City) has 11 ethnic groups living together, the proportion of ethnic minorities accounts for about 70%, mainly Tay and San Diu ethnic groups. As a young person, the leader of the Youth Union in a locality with a long-standing and unique ethnic minority cultural tradition, Ms. Nhung is always aware of her responsibility to propagate and mobilize youth union members to participate in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of her homeland.

Ms. Nhung shared that in the context of globalization and the negative impact of the market economy, cultural values are gradually fading away among young people if not preserved and promoted properly. Therefore, she wants to use the activities of the Youth Union to gather, connect, and spread to young people the love and pride in traditional culture, multiply responsibility, and join hands to preserve and promote the cultural identity values of her nation in modern life.

With that determination, she often goes to the elderly and prestigious people in the commune to learn more about the culture, history and cultural identity of the Tay and San Diu people in the locality. Along with that, she also encourages young people to participate in the Then singing and Tinh lute clubs of the Tay people and the Soong Co singing clubs of the San Diu people. Therefore, every summer, the village cultural houses are always bustling with the atmosphere of practicing the sweet and gentle Then, Tinh and Soong Co melodies of the children, taught by artisans in the commune, or learning about traditional culinary culture through the activity of wrapping Tay cakes such as: Banh Chung Dai, Banh Coc Mo, Banh La Mit, etc. Not only concerned with preserving cultural identity, promoting the spirit of shock, creativity and enthusiasm of the youth, for nearly 5 years in the role of Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, Ms. Nhung has always been an exemplary leader in emulation movements, always close to and grasping the thoughts and aspirations of the children to proactively innovate the content and methods of activities, making the Union's activities rich, attractive and widely spread.

Implementing the youth volunteer movement for community life, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the Youth Union of the commune has maintained youth activities of voluntary blood donation; supporting the exam season; coordinating the organization of job fair programs for young people; cleaning the environment on Green Sunday, especially participating in overcoming the consequences after storm No. 3; organizing health check-ups, consultations and free medicine distribution for 32 policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of July 27; connecting with the Dong Trieu City Startup Club to donate 6 laptops to 6 excellent students who have overcome difficulties, 2 study corners for children in difficult circumstances...

In particular, the construction of the model "Tires as traffic signs" of the Commune Youth Union has been replicated by the Dong Trieu City Youth Union to commune and ward Youth Unions. Through recycling old car tires into warning signs with meaningful propaganda slogans, such as: "Keep public hygiene, do not litter"; "Do not use the phone while driving"; "Do not use alcohol when participating in traffic" ... has contributed to raising awareness of people and youth union members.

Concerned and dedicated to the activities of the Union, Ms. Tran Thi Anh Nhung said that she will continue to try to learn, make constant efforts, and find good measures to improve the quality of the Union's work and the youth movement of the commune, creating an environment for union members and young people to practice and mature.

Ms. Tran Thi Anh Nhung is honored to be one of two individuals from Quang Ninh province to receive the 15th Vu A Dinh Award in 2023, a noble award for outstanding individuals who are ethnic minorities, individuals and collectives with many contributions to ethnic minority, mountainous and island areas, presented by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
