Opening of the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day and launching of the Reading Culture Ambassador contest in Military schools

Attending the ceremony were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh. The fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day held at the Military Library is the opening activity for units throughout the army to study and implement.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc emphasized: Every officer and soldier in the army must be worthy of being an active nucleus in the reading movement, each unit is a typical collective of reading culture contributing to building and developing reading culture in the Army.

The 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in Military Schools with the participation of academies and schools throughout the military. This is an opportunity to evaluate the results of leadership, direction, organization and implementation, and the quality of reading culture in units.

This contest contributes to promoting the reading movement to spread widely and it is an indispensable spiritual food in the units, thereby honoring the image and noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the enthusiasm and aspirations of the young generation in the Army, promoting propaganda, encouraging and motivating soldiers to uphold the spirit of loving the homeland and country, preserving and promoting national cultural values.

On this occasion, the Military Library organized an exhibition of books, newspapers and documents with two themes: "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era" and "Reading culture and knowledge, provisions for entering the digital age", with more than 1,200 books, articles and documents.

Colonel Mac Thuy Duong, Director of the Military Library, said that the exhibition will take place with two themes: The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era; Reading culture and knowledge, the luggage to enter the digital age.

This is a cultural event of great significance, practically commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); responding to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025; towards the 71st anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

This event not only reviews the golden pages of the nation's history but is also an opportunity to pay tribute to generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for independence and freedom and to arouse national pride in every Vietnamese person.

With 1,000 typical books, articles, magazines, and documents, the exhibition takes place with 9 contents: Ho Chi Minh, a model of lifelong learning; Following Uncle Ho on the campaign; Ho Chi Minh Campaign - Golden pages of history through battles; Great Victory of Spring 1975 - Epic of complete victory; Great Victory of Spring through pages of memories; The heroic South's children who were determined to die for the Fatherland; Glory of Uncle Ho's soldiers; World public opinion on the resistance war against America; Books - Reading culture and knowledge - Luggage to enter the digital age.

Through the displayed documents, the exhibition helps affirm the correct and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh in the cause of national liberation; the proactiveness and creativity of Vietnamese military art in the war against American imperialism through strategic combat plans, the developments of campaigns and battles.

Permanent Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh and delegates cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.

In particular, the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising successfully ended the resistance war against the US to save the country, opening a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese people. This feat will forever be a milestone in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people.

Through the pages of books, newspapers and documents, which are not only places to preserve memories but also bridges between the past - present - future, we have the right to be proud of the glorious history and glorious traditions of the heroic Vietnamese Fatherland and believe that under the glorious flag of the Party, with the invincible strength of the people, Vietnam will steadily move forward, entering the era of national growth.

The exhibition runs until May 20.
