Speaking at the opening of the conference, Director of the Library Department Kieu Thuy Nga said: The contest is an activity to implement the Project "Developing reading culture in the community to 2020, with a vision to 2030" launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2019. The contest has become a playground, a forum for young people, teenagers, students, pupils, and visually impaired pupils to share effective reading experiences. Every year, the contest has attracted a large number of pupils and students nationwide to respond and participate enthusiastically, and parents, teachers and school staff are interested. The contest has aroused a passion for reading, spread knowledge, and love of reading in all classes, especially young people, promoted the reading movement, and contributed to developing a reading culture in the community.

The summary report at the conference showed that from 2019 to present, the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has been widely launched to ministries, branches and localities and achieved many important results.
The contest has received the attention of leaders at all levels, sectors, agencies, local units and the enthusiastic participation of students across the country. Many localities have coordinated between the culture, sports and tourism sector with education and the Youth Union, Information and Communications, and the Association for the Promotion of Education to spread the meaning and content of the contest to local schools and units in the armed forces, becoming a meaningful extracurricular activity. Some localities have made careful preparations and innovated in organizing the contest, so the contest is increasingly large-scale and methodical, attracting more and more contestants.
The contest has promoted the creativity and imagination of students. Many touching stories have been shared, works of scientific and artistic value have been conveyed to friends and the community with beautiful and rich illustrations... The contest has truly become a playground, a forum for students to share their experiences of effective reading. Some students have become cultural ambassadors of reading, bringing books and love of books to difficult circumstances in the community.
However, after 4 years of implementation, coordination between agencies, funding and human resources have not received due attention...
At the conference, delegates who are librarians, agencies, units, and libraries comprehensively evaluated the results achieved, advantages, difficulties, and lessons learned in the process of organizing the contest in the locality. Delegates also identified the significance and impact of the contest on the community and society; shared and introduced effective models and initiatives for organizing the contest; and proposed recommendations for the organization to achieve higher quality and efficiency in the future.
On this occasion, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented Certificates of Merit from the Minister to 20 groups with outstanding achievements in organizing the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in recent times. The Organizing Committee displayed and introduced some of the entries of the winners of the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in previous years.
