Vietnamese agricultural exports to the United States remain stable
Answering the question of why export value decreased in the first month of 2025, Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - said that firstly, purchasing power decreased, secondly, prices decreased even though output increased.
The target of 64-65 billion USD in agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover this year will face difficulties and challenges right from the first month of the year. "Although it is only one month, we need a system of solutions to maintain growth momentum and reach the target of 2025," Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien affirmed.

Some of the solutions he proposed were to focus on potential markets such as the United States, China, Japan, Korea, Europe, the Philippines, etc., as well as open up new markets.
Faced with the risk of trade confrontation between countries around the world, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien affirmed that Vietnamese agricultural products exported to the US market are still stable, including some typical products such as tra fish and shrimp.
Therefore, the agricultural sector will continue to hold conferences to discuss and propose solutions to promote better output, quality and export value in 2025.
At the same time, continue to grasp information, trends, and needs of potential markets as a basis for analysis, promoting trade, and organizing production in accordance with market needs.
Besides maintaining and expanding the market, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also emphasized the role of organizing good production, ensuring traceability, digital transformation, following a green economy, and reducing emissions.
Regularly and continuously check durian gardens
Regarding the issue of durian exported to the Chinese market having to be tested for yellow O, Mr. Phung Duc Tien said that currently, the durian growing area in Vietnam is about 169,000 hectares (more than double the planning orientation until 2030 - about 65,000-75,000 hectares), the rate of durian harvested is relatively high. During the export process, most of the gardeners, packaging facilities, and shipments of Vietnamese durian are confirmed to be very good and of high quality.

It must also be seen that in the initial export process, there will be certain deviations in some establishments, businesses, growing areas and packaging facilities, but the Ministry has directed the Plant Protection Department together with localities to seriously review and rectify in order to have both a large scale, high product ratio and guaranteed prices.
Regarding the inspection of O gold quality, Mr. Tien emphasized that China has set criteria from the growing area code, packaging facilities, and quality inspection. Therefore, we must meet the requirements of the import market.
The inspection of O gold quality will be reviewed and strengthened to minimize the number of substandard durian shipments, so that the rate of goods, output and value is greater.
Regarding the inspection and examination of the use of yellow O, Mr. Phung Duc Tien said that the Ministry has directed regularly and continuously when there are problems with shipments.
Along with that, the Plant Protection Department also affirmed that it will take serious measures to rectify and minimize violations by businesses. This is one of the important solutions for us to maintain durian exports.
In addition, to prepare for the upcoming inspection by the European Commission (EC) on the IUU issue, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will organize 4 conferences in all 3 regions and nationwide before the EC comes to Vietnam.
With such continuous moves, the Deputy Minister believes that Vietnam will ensure the EC's requirements and show our determination and resoluteness in the effort to remove the "IUU yellow card".
