700 musical documents of musician Hoang Van are world heritage

Musician Hoang Van writes in many genres, from symphonic poems, musicals, film music to songs, creating an extremely large music collection. He is the author of famous songs such as: Quang Binh, my hometown, I love my school, Ho keo Phao, I am a miner, Bai ca xay dung, Hat ve cay lua hom nay, Tinh ca Tay Nguyen...

The collection has now been listed as a World Documentary Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The collection of the late musician Hoang Van - author of many famous songs and instrumental music in the history of Vietnamese music, includes 700 documents including manuscripts, scores, handwritten manuscripts, photos and recordings from his musical composition career from 1951 to 2010.

As a composer of both instrumental and folk music, the works and documents that musician Hoang Van left behind not only have artistic value but are also valuable documents serving the research of Vietnamese culture and art and the changes in the country's history.

Dr. Vu Minh Huong - Member of the International Advisory Committee, UNESCO Memory of the World Program said: "During the process of reviewing and evaluating the dossier, all experts also assessed that the collection of musician Hoang Van contributed a lot to the research on the history of Vietnamese music. In addition, it has another great value: there are 40 songs about the fate of women in war, about the disadvantaged, through these songs, people see the UNESCO musician".

According to Dr. Huong, this registration will awaken everyone and be a warning bell for all individuals and families: Please preserve your documents so that one day they will become heritage.

The collection of musician Hoang Van was assessed by the international advisory board of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program as having outstanding value because the collection is well preserved, has diverse information accessibility, and is available on a multilingual digital platform, contributing to spreading the value of Vietnamese culture and art to artists around the world.

The name of musician Hoang Van is deeply imprinted in the history of national music and in the hearts of many generations of music lovers. He has been honored by the Party and the State with many prestigious awards, including the Ho Chi Minh Award in 2000.
