USD exchange rate today April 15, 2025: USD price increases again

The US dollar has rebounded against the Japanese yen and the euro, after a week of weakness that took it to a three-year low against the European common currency. However, the earlier weakness also left the greenback in “oversold” territory according to some technical indicators.

The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 99.61 - down 0.17 points compared to April 14, 2025.

The dollar has experienced a four-standard-deviation decline over the past week. “Normally, this would indicate a potential recovery. But if we are seeing a structural change, similar to the collapse of the Bretton Woods system in the early 1970s, then any predictions are meaningless,” said Bilal Hafeez, CEO of Macro Hive.

The euro fell 0.26% to $1.1331. It hit $1.1473 on Friday, its highest since February 2022. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar strengthened 0.08% to 143.61 yen. It fell to 142.05 yen on Friday, its lowest since September.

Against the Swiss franc, the USD strengthened 1.07% to 0.824 franc.

The British pound rose 0.61% to $1.3159. The Australian dollar rose 0.16% to $0.6295, extending a more than 4% gain from last week.

The offshore yuan fell 0.42 percent to 7.312 yuan per dollar. It hit a record low last week.

In the cryptocurrency sector, bitcoin rose 1.17% to $84,461.
