Live forum to share and learn experiences

This year's provincial primary school teacher competition was held at Tran Nhan Tong Primary School and Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School (Nam Dinh city) with the participation of 63 outstanding teachers selected from the district and city level teacher competition. It was held from April 1 to 4 with the following subjects: Art (Music) grade 1; Ethics grade 2, Experiential activities grade 2; English grade 3, Nature and Society grade 3; Information Technology grade 4, Technology grade 4. Each subject had 9 teachers competing. Participating in the provincial competition, each teacher participated in 2 competitions: Practice of 1 teaching period and Presentation of measures to improve teaching quality. During the competition, teachers also participated in professional seminars for each subject to exchange and share teaching experiences.

According to the evaluation of the jury, in the practical exam, the lessons were carefully and meticulously prepared by the teachers, demonstrating professional awareness and a high sense of responsibility. The lessons closely followed the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, ensuring accuracy, science, systematization, linking education and practicality, meeting the goals of educational innovation. Most teachers designed a series of learning activities suitable for the goals, content and teaching methods, with flexible adjustments to suit the students. Teachers used a variety of active teaching methods and techniques such as: stations, corners, problem-solving teaching; the lectures were designed according to 4 activities (Warm-up, Forming new knowledge, Practice, Application), highlighting the central role of students. The assignment of learning tasks was carried out clearly, specifically, suitable for the students' abilities, creating interest and positivity in the learning process. The atmosphere of the class was friendly, open, gentle, and highly effective. In particular, the use of a variety of musical instruments in the Music class created excitement and attraction for students. The lessons demonstrated active innovation in teaching methods and assessment methods according to the requirements of developing qualities and abilities, training students' self-study and creativity, and organizing effective group activities. The system of questions and test exercises was designed to suit the students in the class and meet the requirements of student assessment according to Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT. The highlight of this year's competition was the ability of teachers to apply IT to educational activities. Teachers were very quick, proficient in using modern tools such as multiple-choice scoring with QRCARD, designing videos, animated pictures, and Canva software, helping to increase interaction and objective assessment. In addition, teachers making and effectively using teaching aids in their lessons is also an important highlight of the contest.

The presentation of measures to improve the quality of teaching was organized by subject. Many presentations showed careful investment in form and content, with high professional quality. The content of the measures came from teaching practice, demonstrating exploration, discovery and application of good experiences in teaching, focusing on developing students' qualities and abilities. Many reports proposed applying active teaching methods such as fish tank techniques, art galleries, mind maps, STEM education models, and applying AI technology in lesson design.

Contribute to the replication of advanced models and training of staff

One of the important goals of the Competition is to create a "playground" for teachers to exchange and learn professional experience from colleagues. Therefore, at the Competition, seminars and sharing of teaching experiences were organized for each subject with the participation of a large number of teachers. Here, teachers had the opportunity to analyze and evaluate their expertise in depth; learn and share good experiences after 5 years of implementing the 2018 General Education Program, thereby promoting successes, overcoming limitations to continue to perform better in the next phase. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, an Ethics teacher at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School (Nam Dinh City) said: “The new feature of this year's contest is that the participating teachers applied AI in their lessons very effectively and flexibly. I myself have been greatly enriched in the expertise, skills, and teaching methods of teachers such as: skills in organizing and managing students during class, skills in interacting with students, and pedagogical skills. In addition, I have also learned a lot of new technologies such as applying AI to shorten lesson preparation time, and students are also more interested in the lesson. Particularly for the Ethics subject, through the contest, I have gained new resources such as new videos created by AI and ways to arrange and organize activities in a more reasonable lesson.” Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thanh, an English teacher at Thinh Long Town Primary School (Hai Hau), shared: “The contest has brought a great opportunity for teachers to share their skills and teaching methods as well as learn from the experiences of colleagues across the province. For English, through the contest, I have been able to apply many teaching methods such as active teaching methods, differentiated teaching methods and methods to help students love English, practice their language skills in a very lively and natural English environment, and students are also very excited during class.”

Although there are still some limitations such as: Some teachers are not really flexible, creative and natural in applying new teaching methods; the organization of teaching activities in some lessons is still heavy on formality, not very effective; the design of questions and activities lacks openness... However, most of the teachers participating in the contest showed a spirit of learning, a sense of responsibility and solid professional capacity; made efforts to innovate teaching and assessment methods; paid attention to linking the content of knowledge in lectures with practice; used digital teaching equipment and artificial intelligence to design creative, scientific and attractive teaching hours, promoting the qualities and abilities of students.

The GVDG contest was successfully organized, contributing to training the team, promoting advanced models; motivating teachers to strive, improve themselves, meet the requirements of innovation, and improve the quality of education and training in the province. All 63/63 teachers participating in the contest achieved the title of GVDG at the provincial level with 28 first prizes and 35 second prizes. Typical examples include Ms. Tran Thi Xuan Thuy, Nguyen Trai Primary School (Nam Dinh city), subject of Music; Vu Thi Hong Bich, Truc Thuan Primary School (Truc Ninh), subject of Technology; Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Tran Quoc Toan Primary School (Nam Dinh city), subject of Ethics; Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Truc Thai Primary School (Truc Ninh), subject of Experiential Activities; Pham Thi Cai, Giao Yen Primary School (Giao Thuy), subject of English; Hoang Thi Thu Hoai, Tran Van Lan Primary School (Nam Dinh city), subject of Information Technology; Tran Thanh Huyen, Pham Hong Thai Primary School (Nam Dinh city), subject of Nature and Society.

After the contest, the Department of Education and Training requested schools to continue to promote innovative teaching in a practical way; teachers to constantly learn and improve, become teachers with solid expertise, further improve teaching quality, and contribute to the province's education career.
