Domestic coffee price list updated on the morning of April 15, 2025 |
Last week, the domestic coffee price dropped to VND116,000/kg (the lowest in the past 3 months) due to concerns about the US's reciprocal tax. However, the market later recovered when the US announced a 90-day suspension of this tax. Coffee prices accordingly increased by a total of VND7,000/kg over the last 3 days of the week.
In summary, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region still decreased by nearly 2%. Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces decreased sharply by VND2,200/kg. Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by VND2,000/kg, and in Lam Dong province decreased by VND2,300/kg compared to the previous week.
Many experts believe that the recent decline in coffee prices is mainly due to psychological factors, not actual supply and demand. The US's 90-day suspension of tariffs and the uniform 10% tariff on all coffee exporting countries have not had a major impact.
However, the coffee market is currently showing a stable and sideways trend due to investors remaining cautious after the US announced a reduction in import tariffs. On the other hand, concerns about falling global demand, combined with pressure from the general commodity market, continue to prevent coffee prices from breaking out further.
However, the fact that Robusta prices remain around the $5,000/ton mark is considered a positive signal, supporting the psychology of Vietnamese farmers to hold on to their goods, especially in the context of tight supply and the lowest Robusta inventory on the exchanges in the past 3 and a half weeks.
Coffee prices may fluctuate within a narrow range in the short term as the market awaits further clarity from trade negotiations between the US and its partners. If the negotiations progress positively, especially without any new tariffs, coffee prices may recover.
