In previous years, the vegetable growing area in La Gi town was mainly grown in Tan Binh commune and Binh Tan ward. However, realizing that growing vegetables brings a fairly stable income, in recent years, many farming households in Tan Phuoc, Tan Tien, Tan Hai communes and Tan An ward have also taken advantage of their family's vacant land to grow vegetables. Since then, the vegetable growing area in La Gi town has been increasingly expanded, meeting the increasing demand for green vegetables of the people, especially during Tet.
Normally every year, from the beginning of the 10th lunar month, La Gi farmers start to plant long-term vegetables and at the end of November they will plant short-term vegetables (vegetables with a growing period of 30 - 45 days). According to many farmers, planting in the winter-spring crop has many favorable conditions such as good weather, little damage, and easy-to-grow vegetables. Most vegetables have a short growing period, are quick to harvest, and consumption increases sharply towards the end of the year. In addition, this year the price of vegetables remains stable and has increased by 20 - 30% compared to the same time last year, so growers are very excited. Therefore, La Gi farmers have prepared very carefully from land preparation to care to achieve the highest vegetable yield.

Mr. Viet is excited because his family's vegetable garden is highly productive, promising a bumper crop for the 2024 Lunar New Year.
According to Mr. Viet, although the technique of planting and caring for these vegetables is quite simple, growers need to pay attention to the process of watering and fertilizing the plants because squash and pumpkin are plants that love water, so growers must regularly water and provide moisture for the plants to grow and develop well. Coming to the vegetable gardens for Tet at this time in La Gi town, people seem to be concentrating on hoping for a bumper crop of Tet vegetables to have more income for their families to enjoy the spring.
