The atmosphere of the year-end fruit and vegetable harvest of Ms. Mai Thi Ngan’s family in Phuoc Tien village, Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town is extremely busy and bustling. It is known that every year, Ms. Ngan's family grows more than 5 sao of vegetables and fruits, including various types of la gai, tubers and fruits such as: squash, pumpkin, Thai bitter melon, regular bitter melon, cucumber, green beans, mustard greens, onions... to supply the market before, during and after Tet.
While harvesting cucumbers, Ms. Ngan shared: “My family only needs to pick cucumbers and then traders come to the garden to buy them for about 15,000 VND per kilo. If we take the time to bring them to the market, we will get a higher price. This year's vegetable crop, cucumbers are easy to sell and have good prices, so we are very excited.”
Thanks to favorable weather conditions combined with proper care and irrigation, the yield of vegetables for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin this year is quite high compared to previous years, so La Gi farmers are extremely excited. Currently, the prices of vegetables have increased slightly compared to normal days, especially bitter melon this year, which has both a good harvest and good price. Accordingly, the price of normal bitter melon at this time is about 20,000 to 25,000 VND/kg, Thai bitter melon is from 35,000 to 40,000 VND/kg. It is expected that in the coming days, the prices of vegetables will increase even more.
