The tomb of the famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong and his son Nguyen Lam lies on a high mound of about 500 square meters in the middle of a vast rice field. Surrounded by ancient elm trees.

Nguyen Tri Phuong was the commander of the Nguyen Dynasty army guarding Dien Hai citadel in Da Nang, organizing the defense to repel the invading French army in 1858. According to the book Dai Nam liet truyen of the National History Institute of the Nguyen Dynasty, in 1858 the French army entered the Da Nang seaport to bombard the citadel, besieging the two citadels of An Hai and Dien Hai. The army commander Le Dinh Ly was shot and wounded. In the midst of that difficult time, King Tu Duc appointed Nguyen Tri Phuong as the army commander of Quang Nam.

Nguyen Tri Phuong examined the enemy's situation, drew a map and determined that the French army had an advantage in the battle, while the Nguyen army had an advantage in the defense. He proposed a strategy of using defense as a battle, building more fortifications. The Nguyen army under the command of Nguyen Tri Phuong built a fortification from the beach to Thac Gian in Phuc Ninh. Outside the fortification, they dug holes with spikes, covered them with sand and grass, and divided the troops into ambushes close to Dien Hai citadel. The French army attacked Dien Hai citadel and fell into the holes. The Nguyen army at the fortifications fired, forcing the French army to retreat.
