Up to now, the output of the A6 package of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway through Nhon Trach (Dong Nai) has reached 97% and is under construction. The Project Management Board urges the contractor to speed up the construction to finish before Tet to serve the people to enjoy the Spring Festival and travel conveniently.
On the afternoon of January 11, sharing with reporters of Giao thong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Huu Vi - Director of the Southern Expressway Project Management Board (under VEC - the investor of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project) said that up to now, the construction output of the expressway has reached nearly 90%. All the packages have been basically completed, only the J3 Phuoc Khanh Bridge package connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai is stuck.
The intersection between the road to Phuoc An port and Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is being completed to open to traffic before Tet.
Previously, this package was implemented by the joint venture Sumitomo Mitsui (Japan) - Cienco 4 (Vietnam). By 2022, the investor and contractor J3 terminated the contract when the package volume reached 80.7% and has not yet restarted.
Particularly, the section through Dong Nai has 3 bidding packages: A5, A6, A7, of which A5 and A7 have been completed and A6's output is also about 97% and is in the completion stage.
Mr. Vi said that the Project Management Board is urging the contractor to speed up construction to open the expressway section from the intersection with the road to Phuoc An port (Nhon Trach) to National Highway 51 before Tet to serve people traveling, helping to reduce congestion and burden on National Highway 51 from the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway with Highway 319 to the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, National Highway 51 and Nhon Trach intersection.
Regarding this issue, the Vietnam Road Administration has recently issued a decision approving the traffic organization plan for the temporary exploitation phase of two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway construction investment project.
The temporary traffic organization scope includes the first section of the route from Km 0+000 - Km 3+420, from the intersection at Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway to National Highway 1 (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) about 3.4km long.
The second section is from the end of the route from Km 50+530 - Km 57+581, from the intersection of BOT road 319 to National Highway 51 in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, about 6.1km long.
The highway section between A6 and A7 packages has been paved and signs have been installed.
According to the Vietnam Road Administration, the temporary traffic organization plan aims to connect roads in the area, adjust and reduce traffic volume on operating routes in the area, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival 2025.
The Department of Roads also requested the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to preside over and coordinate with the Road Management Area IV (if necessary, invite other agencies, organizations, and individuals) to review the approved temporary traffic organization plan. Proactively adjust and supplement necessary tasks and items before officially organizing temporary traffic.

Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway plays a role in connecting Long Thanh airport and Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport cluster, the Western provinces. The project has a total length of 57.8km, of which the section through Long An province is 2.7km long, Ho Chi Minh City is 26.4km long and Dong Nai is 28.7km long.
The total investment is currently updated to nearly 30 trillion VND. Over the past two years, after legal obstacles were removed, most of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway packages have accelerated construction to reach the finish line.
However, the J3 contract for Phuoc Khanh bridge across Long Tau river connecting Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City and Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province is still "standing still".
According to the plan, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway will be completed on September 30, but in reality, the remaining part of Phuoc Khanh Bridge will take about 1 year to complete. Therefore, the opening of the entire route still depends on the progress of this bridge.
