Recent reports suggest that, in addition to the iPhone 15 and Watch Series 9, Apple may also introduce a number of new products to users in the remainder of 2023.
iPhone 15 series
It's no surprise that Apple is planning to release a whole new iPhone lineup in 2023, and like every year, they're expected to launch in September called the iPhone 15 series, which will include the iPhone 15 (6.1-inch), iPhone 15 Plus (6.7-inch), iPhone 15 Pro (6.1-inch), and iPhone 15 Pro Max (6.7-inch).
The appearance of the iPhone 15 series is not surprising
The big news this year is the Pro models, which are rumored to come with a periscope camera system that will offer better zoom without sacrificing quality. If last year's trend continues, only the Pro models will come with the new, faster A17 Bionic chip, while the regular models will get the same A16 Bionic chip that the iPhone 14 Pro models use.
They are also expected to switch to USB-C instead of Lightning, which would make the iPhone 15 series the first to support this capability.
Apple Watch Series 9
There’s not much information about Apple’s upcoming wearables, so it’s unlikely that this year’s lineup will see much change. There have been persistent rumors of a new blood glucose sensor, but it doesn’t look like Apple is ready to release it to the world just yet.
Watch Series Needs a Refresh
Some reports suggest that we could see some of the Watch Ultra-exclusive features make their way to the more affordable Watch Series 9, but there's nothing definitive to back up that claim.
Overall, it remains to be seen what Apple has to say about the new features on the upcoming Watch Series, while it remains unclear how the company’s other watch models, such as the Watch Ultra 2 or Watch SE 3, will fare.
iPhone Ultra
There have been some recent rumors that Apple is working on a more premium iPhone model than its current offerings and it could be called the iPhone Ultra with a more durable titanium design like the Watch Ultra.
iPhone Ultra will bring high-end features
One interesting rumor surrounding the phone is that it will not have a USB-C port, making it the first iPhone to be completely portless. However, it remains to be seen whether this is true, as rumors of a portless iPhone have been circulating for years.
Last but not least, the price. The iPhone Ultra could replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max (expected to start at $1,200) as the most expensive iPhone ever.
iPad
Many people seem to have forgotten about Apple's other major product, the iPad. Last year, the company released new updates to the iPad, including the basic iPad and the iPad Air, while the iPad mini was last refreshed in 2021.
At least one iPad model will need a refresh this year
So it’s entirely possible that Apple will release a new update for the smallest iPad, alongside minor improvements to the base iPad and iPad Air. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says this year’s updates will be basic and nothing special.
As for the iPad Pro models, Apple is said to be working on updates for both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, but these won't arrive until the first half of 2024.
iMac M2
There’s no doubt that Apple is working on a new iMac, but it looks like the update could come sooner than expected. Rumors suggest Apple could release a new iMac in 2023, though details about it remain a mystery. It’s expected to come with Apple’s newer M2 chip.
This year's iMacs may only use M2 chips
There have been rumors since last year, though, that Apple might go one step further and introduce an M3 chip for use in a new iMac. That’s still a question mark, but if a new iMac does arrive early this year, the M2 is likely to be the chip of choice.
